All-levels Career Development Workshop: Moving Forward in the Professional Public Health Field

Hosted by the Oregon Public Health Association’s Health Education & Promotion Section Co-sponsored by Portland State University’s Health Promotion Student Organization (HPSO)

Date: May 16, 2015 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm Check-in and networking begins at 12:00 pm

Description This half-day workshop is open to all levels of public health professionals entering and or pursuing professional growth opportunities. Come gain insights and creative approaches on how to use social media while job searching, best practices in writing authentic resumes, interview tips from current professionals, and even get a free digital head shot for your professional bios. This workshop will arm you with valuable career development tools!

Agenda Outline: 12:00-1:00: Activities, Networking, and Professional Headshots. 1:00-2:00: Media Tools in the Career Arena – Vicki Lind 2:00-2:15: Break 2:15-3:45: Presenting your best resume–Aubrie De Clerck, Coaching for Clarity 3:45-4:00: Break 4:00- 4:45: Interviewing sharing / panel with diverse OPHA board members

Speaker BIOs: Vicki Lind , M.S. has worked as a career counselor and marketing coach since 1999. Having lived in Oregon most of her life, her roots are deep in Portland's communities. She is especially helpful to creative people because she herself is a creative divergent thinker (and a little bit quirky). Vicki imaginatively pulls together resources to meet the idiosyncratic needs of each client. Her education includes Master's degrees in Education (Portland State University) and in Counseling Psychology (University of Oregon). She also holds a certificate in Human Resource Management (Linfield College). Finally, she passed a comprehensive exam required to become a National Certified Counselor (NCC). www.vlind.com

Aubrie De Clerck , PCC, CPC- Aubrie De Clerck is a Career Coach with over 10 years of experience helping people open doors to fulfilling work. In her private practice, Coaching for Clarity, Aubrie advises clients on how to highlight their unique contributions in a genuine way throughout their career - from defining and conducting a search to managing workplace communications and career plans. She is well versed in corporate, non-profit, education and entrepreneurial sectors and guides clients on how to make transitions between sectors with confidence. Panel - Interview panel members will include members from the Oregon Public Health Association (OPHA)’s Board of Directors whose experience represents the wide range of opportunities within the public health field (non-profit, government, healthcare, consulting, etc).
