Hannover 2015 New at Hannover Messe 2015

GKN LAND SYSTEMS LAUNCHES INVERTED SLIP DESIGN DRIVESHAFT

GKN Land Systems has recently launched its new inverted slip design range of 3C-10C driveshafts, which will be seen at Hannover Messe for the first time.

The range has been developed by linking existing, proven GKN off-highway technologies from its market-leading Mechanics Series® U-Joints range with inverted slip and shaft design expertise from engineers across the GKN group.

Ben Ravenscroft, Product Specialist for GKN Land Systems, states: “The range is a natural evolution of existing GKN product innovation with new features and benefits to offer significant advantages to customers in the off- highway market. In the main these improvements will reduce the need for servicing and maintenance, and maximise uptime and productivity.

“Rockford Mechanics Series® engineers in the USA and Cardan Shaft engineers in Italy have collaborated on this step-change product range through the recent global realignment of the GKN Land Systems business. This allows us to share expertise from different market sectors more easily to offer something new to customers.”

Key features of the range are the service free design, which is achieved through optimisation of the spline geometry, optimisation of the spline grease for off-highway loads and temperatures and advanced slip seals. Specialised design of the splined components has allowed for increased length compensation. Finally, improved balancing characteristics allow for a smoother running shaft, thereby improving operator comfort.

The overall design of the new range, with increased standard slip length, refined profile and more compact dimensioning, reduces the metal content of the driveshaft, making it lighter allowing for easier installation and service whilst optimising the weight distribution of any vehicle and balancing loads more evenly as a result.

With standardised components, the availability of multi-sized options and like-for-like replacement for retrofitting purposes, GKN Land Systems continues to deliver dedicated products and solutions that meet the demands of challenging working environments.
