CLPA Meeting Notes – May 12, 2008

Location: Town Hall, 9 a.m. Attendees: Bob Tomashek, Fran West, Jim Aumann, Carl Bruggink, Joe Mass, Dick Thurow, Dennis Thornton.

 Minutes of March 10 and April 14 were read. Carl moved, Jim seconded approval of minutes. All in favor.  Treasurer’s report was read. Fran reported that 135 members have paid their dues. After printing and mailing costs, the Directory netted about $500. She said the CLPA was about $10,000 under its budget for the year. She distributed the treasurer’s report for the annual meeting. Carl moved, Joe seconded approval of the treasurer’s report. All in favor.  The board went over the agenda for the May 25 annual meeting. Fran and Jim will be up for re-election. The meeting will include the business meeting, planning reports and activities updates. A public comment/question period was added. A Science Fair will be included as well as tours of the Water Trail after the meeting.  Dennis will send letters of invitation for the annual meeting to Town Board members and DNR officials.  Carl reported the dam is still closed and the water level is above 72 inches.  Adventures in Lake Living will have two events in June: a June 7 program by Craig Johanesen on the formation of Cloverleaf Lakes and a Pontoon Classroom June 21.  Bob said Rich Cloeter will begin duties as boat monitor Saturday.  Steve McKay will join the team trapping rusty crayfish, covering Round Lake.  Dennis reported the Fun Committee ordered shirts with the CLPA logo for board members to wear at the annual meeting. A sign-up sheet will be offered for members to buy shirts at $25 apiece.  Bob said that Lake and Pond Solutions has treated curly-leaf pondweed and will return to treat Eurasian Water Milfoil when the water is warmer.  Bob said the town plans to replace the signs at the boat landing with a kiosk-style sign board. Another may be purchased for Gibson Island.  Dick said Mike Nelson was close to being ready to install the boardwalk on the Gibson Island landward lot.  Joe moved, Dick seconded adjourning at 11:10 a.m. All in favor.
