Call to Order President Phillips called the meeting to order at 3:35pm II. Introduction of Guests Information Elko Julie Embry Lance Whitney III. Approval of Agenda Information/Action A. February 10, 2006 SGA Agenda Senator Gallegos moved to approve the February 10, 2006 SGA Agenda with said changes. Senator Rivera seconds. No discussion. Motion passed unanimously. IV. Approval of Minutes Information/Action A. January 27, 2006 SGA Minutes Senator Cast moved to approve the January 27, 2006 SGA Minutes. Senator R. LeSpade seconded. No discussion. Motion passed unanimously. B. February 03,2006 SGA Minutes Senator Metz moved to approve the February 03, 2006 SGA Minutes. Senator Dela Vega seconded. No discussion. Motion passed unanimously. V. President’s Report Information/Action A. New Senator Training (Feb. 17). Next Friday 12 – 3:30. B. Committee Assignments - see attached C. Special Tasks – New senators will be assigned later D. Community Service Chair – No contacts yet. Anyone interested should let President Phillips know ASAP. E. Comedy Night – President Phillips spoke with the booking agent and only Vick Henley and Mike Green were available for the specific night. Mike Green was the preferred choice at the January retreat.

IX. Committee Reports Information/Action A. Ely Report- Secretary Trott – No Report B. Winnemucca Report- Natalie Ulrich - No Report C. SOL – Still putting together the calendar, planning campus wide Easter Egg Hunt D. Community Service – In need of a chair E. Facilities – Ger – President Phillips referred to Senator Cast. Senator Cast reported that Russ Mentor of Tip Top Amusement has turned in 2 signed contracts and Insurance cards. He passed the documents to Student Advocate Smith who passed it along to VP Carl Diekhans. Senator R. LeSpade asked what games would be brought into the rec room. Senator answered probably a Ms. Pacman, a two player combat game, a shooting game and a game of Russ’s choice. We are on a trial basis and currently 70%-30% split with Tip Top. If revenues pass expectations we will begin to receive 50%-50%. X. Unfinished Business None XI. New Business A. GBC Democrat Campus Club Information/Action Julie Embry requests approval for the GBC Democratic Campus Club to be a sanctioned on the GBC club campus. Senator Cast moved to approve the GBC Democratic Campus Club to be a sanctioned club on the GBC campus. Senator Metz seconded. Guest Julie Embry began the discussion by asking if the name could be shortened to GBC Democrats. President Phillips took the opportunity to introduce and train the senate the rule about friendly amendments. Senator Flint moved to make a Friendly Amendment and change the name to GBC Democrats. Senators Cast and Metz agree. Guest Lance Whitney added that the club would be formed in conjunction with central committee. Everyone will be invited to their meetings regardless of their political belief. Only registered Democrats and Independents may become members of the club. Guest Julie Embry said that their goal was to educate and encourage students to become involved in politics. They would also like to have all students registered and support elected officials. She also added that the President of the UNR club is willing to come down and help organize this club. Student Advocate Smith added that she feels that this is a milestone occasion to have a student organized political club. Motion passed unanimously.

B. Graduation Speaker Information/Action President Phillips requests a discussion and decision regarding the graduation speaker. President Phillips asked the senate to discuss the two choices for SGA’s suggestion for the Graduation Speaker, Tony Curtis or Nancy Remington, unless another suggestion could be made. No further suggestions were made. Senator Rivera stated why she felt Remington would be a good choice. She said that Remington was really special to the Education Department since she helped create it and the fact that GBC is now a 4-year college. GBC is where it is today thanks to Remington. Student Advocate Smith added that Tony Curtis was a big movie star years ago and has done a lot with art. There was also hope of having an art show in conjunction with his speech. Senator R. LeSpade moved for a roll call vote. Senator Cast seconded. Motion passed unanimously.

C. Cowboy Poetry – PBL Information/Action President Phillips requests Approval of $666.67 to go to PBL for their participation in Cowboy Poetry on February 2nd and 4th. Senator Flint moved to approve the request of $666.67 to go to the PBL for their participation in Cowboy Poetry on February 2nd and 4th. Senator Dela Vega seconded. Senator Dela Vega said the PBL did an excellent job on both dates. During the Cowboy Poetry around 260+ people were served by Café X. Clubs make a necessary addition to the staff of 2. Student Advocate Smith added that Café X pays SGA for the help from the clubs and SGA pays the clubs. Motion passed unanimously. D. Cowboy Poetry - ASO Information/Action

President Phillips requests Approval of $333.33 to go to ASO for their participation in Cowboy Poetry on February 3rd. Senator R. LeSpade moved to approve the request of $333.33 to go the ASO for their participation in Cowboy Poetry on February 3rd. Senator Dela Vega seconded. Senator Dela Vega reported that they did a good job especially “Howard”, who was very fast at washing dishes. There was some confusion of how many were to show up, but they did well. Motion passed unanimously.

XIII. Issues and Concern/Public Comment Senator R. LeSpade announced the committee meeting for the Techno show would be Monday at 7:00pm, and if anyone on the committee would be unable to attend to please contact him as soon as possible.

Senator Cast moved to adjourn at 4:05 pm. Senator Metz seconded. Motion passed unanimously. At the call of the President, public comments shall be heard by the SGA. Upon proper request students, faculty, administration, and the public shall be granted the floor by the President. Please note that due to time restrictions the President reserves the right and authority to place a time limit of public comment in the compliance with NRS 241.020 (2) © (3).
