Tennessee Performing Arts Center Presents…A New Logo

The Tennessee Performing Arts Center has unveiled a new logo, designed by Powell Creative of Nashville.

“The logo itself is a colorful work of art, reflecting the look of our facility and the excitement of the live performance,” said Kathleen O’Brien, TPAC president and chief executive officer. “The design also captures the stature of TPAC as an institution that has opened its doors to some 10 million audience members and more than 1.4 million Tennessee school students over the past 25 years.”

The logo depicts the main entrance to TPAC at the corner of Deaderick Street and 6th Avenue which was renovated two years ago to include the addition of towers, an expanse of glass, and an electronic marquee.

“The public has come to associate TPAC with the mark we’ve made on our corner of downtown Nashville. Between the dramatic change in the look of our building, and the fact that we are celebrating our 25th anniversary in September, our staff felt the time was right to create a new logo to help brand and promote the Tennessee Performing Arts Center.”

Working with TPAC Marketing Director Brent Hyams, Powell Creative presented dozens of different possibilities for review, O’Brien said, noting that early in the design process, there was strong consensus among TPAC staff and a focus group of patrons for a logo that incorporated the building itself.

Imprinted immediately on stationery, business cards and other printing projects, the image will gradually be phased-in on signage at the building. Hyams is managing the roll-out as one element of a strategic branding campaign for TPAC.

The Powell Creative team assigned to the project included Wayne Powell, President and Creative Director; designer Joe Moore; Jeff Siptak, Vice President and Associate Creative Director; and Terri Dautreuil, Vice President of Operations.

The Tennessee Performing Arts Center is a private, non-profit corporation dedicated to providing and supporting the presentation of the performing arts to the citizens of Tennessee. Its four stages are home to Broadway in Nashville at TPAC, Nashville Ballet, Nashville Opera, The Nashville Symphony, Tennessee Repertory Theatre and a variety of special engagements. TPAC administers one of the largest and most comprehensive arts-in-education programs in the United States, offering learning opportunities for children and adults. The organization has served more than 1.4 million students from pre- school to high school over the past two decades. For more information, visit the web site, www.tpac.org.
