Community Council Agenda May 5, 2016 Calvin Smith Elementary Media Center

1. Welcome  Karen Gregory, Renee DeHaan, Kimberly Dean, Kristen Logan, Scott Logan, Stephanie Proud 2. Approval of minutes  Approved 3. Principal’s Reports – Karen Gregory ([email protected])  Art choices for 2016-2017 art, music, drama, and visual arts, or dance  We currently have after school drama club (grades 4-6) students who are interested in choir are able to do choir after school as well  Vote to keep visual arts- approved

4. Follow up business

Elections for next year  Cindy will need to be replaced, and one other parent spot will be open  Election or declaration for candidacy will be sent home in Thursday folders and elections will be held in the fall during first SEP conferences

5. PTA report  Teacher appreciation week was last week and just finished  New board will be Nicole McDemort will be the new president, Lindsay Cottrell will be the new vice president, Liz Jensen will be treasurer, and Mindy Deardon will be secretary  May 17th is Minute-to-win-it  May 24th is field day – email will be sent out to parents about minute-to-win it and field day parents for volunteers  Thursday notes will be sent home about minute-to-win it as well  Kindergarten will not do field day with the rest of the school and will have a smaller event  Plan on students getting wet  Movie will be The Incredible  May 17th is family picnic and students will eat outside and families are welcome to bring a lunch and eat with their child  Back to school night will be held August 15th - looking at the times from 5:00-6:00 PM
