ADAA Foundation Curatorial Awards

Application Guidelines

Purpose and Background

The Art Dealers Association of America (ADAA) and the Association of Art Museum Curators (AAMC) are pleased to announce the second year of the ADAA Foundation Curatorial Awards. The purpose of the awards is to provide essential funding for museum curators to develop exhibition projects. The program is intended to honor exceptional curatorial visions and help museums advance deserving projects with funds for early research and development. The Curatorial Awards will support AAMC members in the critical nascent stages of their exhibition projects.

Description

Two $10,000 awards will be granted each year to one curator in a pre-World War II field and one curator in a post-World War II field. The award should be used for costs related to early research and exhibition development. A final report will be due from the awardee approximately one year following the award. (see Reporting and Other Requirements below).

Eligibility

Application must be made by a full time curator of art from a North American Museum. The exhibition project may be in the early stages of formation but should have full support from the host institution and a proposed opening date within 2-3 years of the Curatorial Award.

Reporting and Other Requirements

Curator and institution agree to:

• Acknowledge the AAMC and ADAA Foundation’s financial support in publicity materials and new releases related to the exhibition. Recommended language: “This Exhibition has been supported by an ADAA Foundation Curatorial Award administered by the Association of Art Museum Curators” in acknowledgements. • Submit a final written report to the AAMC prior to November 30 of the year following the award, summarizing the goals, activities, and results of the prize support, and confirming that the total grant funds have been expended as proposed. Application Procedure

Please submit one original and four unbound collated copies of the following materials (5 TOTAL) in one package to the AAMC office, via mail:
