THE 9TH ASIAN WUSHU CHAMPIONSHIPS RULES & REGULATIONS

1. DATE AND PLACE

The 9th Asian Wushu Championships will be held in Taoyuan City, Taiwan from September 1st until 5th, 2016.

2. VENUE

a. Competition venue: Taoyuan Arena

b. Training venue: Taoyuan Arena

3. COMPETITION EVENTS

a. TAOLU

i. Barehanded routine: Changquan, Nanquan, Taijiquan, Double Taijiquan (optional routine)

ii. Short Weapon: Daoshu, Jianshu, Nandao, Taijijian (optional routine)

iii. Long Weapon: Qiangshu, Gunshu, Nangun (optional routine)

iv. Dual Event (Duilian): 2-3 persons, no mixing groups for male and female

b. SANDA

i. Male: 48kg, 52kg, 56kg, 60kg, 65kg, 70kg, 75kg, 80kg, 85kg, 90kg, above 90kg.

ii. Female: 48kg, 52kg, 56kg, 60kg, 65kg, 70kg

4. QUALIFICATIONS

a. Members under Wushu Federation of Asia are eligible to participate in the championships.

b. Members who failed to pay annual membership fee for the term 2015-2016 are not entitled to participate in this competition.

c. Association under the membership application progress can be invited to participate in the championships only after their application being approved.

5. ENTRY REQUIREMENT

a. TAOLU

i. Members under Wushu Federation of Asia are eligible to participate in the championships.

ii. Each team shall be composed of maximum 16 members including: 1 team Manager, 2 coaches, 1 doctor, and 12 athletes (6 male and 6 female).

iii. Each athlete may apply up to 4 events (1 barehanded routine, 1 short weapon, 1 long weapon and 1 double Taijiquan or dual event (Duilian)).

iv. Each team may apply for one male and female dual event (Duilian).

v. Athletes are required to submit upon registration a Health Certificate issued within a period of 30 days prior to the competition (including electrocardiogram, pulse and blood pressure), a valid life insurance certificate and waiver of liabilities.

b. SANDA

i. Members under Wushu Federation of Asia are eligible to participate in the championships.

ii. Each team shall be composed by maximum 16 members including: 1 team manager, 2 coaches, 1 doctor, 12 athletes (7 male and 5 female).

iii. Each team may sign-up only one athlete for each weight category. And each athlete is allowed to apply for only one weight category.

iv. Athletes are required to submit upon registration a Health Certificate issued within a period of 30 days prior to the competition (including electro-encephalogram, electrocardiogram, pulse and blood pressure), a valid life insurance certificate and waiver of liabilities.

6. COMPETITION METHOD

a. TAOLU

i. The competition will be conducted in accordance with the newest edition of the “Rules of the International Taolu Competition” endorsed by the International Wushu Federation.

ii. Changquan, Nanquan, Taijiquan, Daoshu, Jianshu, Nandao, Taijijian, Qiangshu, Gunshu, and Nangun will be implemented according to optional routine of the competition rules.

iii. Report difficulty level by selecting from A, B, C.

iv. At the same category of degree of difficulty, the movement with the same degree of difficulty can be done two times at most, but the movement with degree of connecting movements cannot be repeated.

v. Background music is required (prepared by competitor). 0.2 point off against performance with no background music or with vocal part in the music.

vi. In case of discrepancy of interpretation of the Rules, the Chinese Text shall prevail.

b. SANDA

i. The competition will be conducted in accordance with the newest edition of the “Rules of the International Sanda Competition” endorsed by the International Wushu Federation.

ii. The knock out system will be adopted. If the number of athletes is less than 4 (excluding 4), a single round-robin will be adopted.

iii. In case of discrepancy of interpretation of the Rules, the Chinese Text shall prevail.

7. COSTUMES AND EQUIPMENTS

a. TAOLU

i. All competition and training venue shall meet the requirement with the competition rules.

ii. Athletes must wear costumes in compliance with the rules under Wushu Taolu during the competitions.

iii. Athletes shall prepare their own costumes and equipment in accordance with the competition rules.

b. SANDA

i. All competition and training venue shall meet the requirement with the competition rules.

ii. Athletes must wear the costumes and protective gears in compliance with the competition rules when participating in the competition.

iii. Athletes must possess two (2) sets of costumes; one set of red and one set of black.

iv. Athletes must prepare their own gum-shield, Jockstrap, and bandage. Gloves and protective equipment will be provided by the Organizing Committee.

8. PLACING AND AWARDING

a. Taolu: The top eight will be awarded:

1st place: Gold medal and certificate 3rd place: Bronze medal and certificate

2nd place: Silver medal and certificate 4th place to 8th place: Certificates

b. Sanda: The top three will be awarded:

1st place: Gold medal and certificate 2nd place: Silver medal and certificate

3rd place: Bronze medal and certificate (there will be juxtaposition for the 3rd place).

9. Entries:

a. Preliminary Entry

The preliminary entry forms must state the exact number of athletes taking part in the events, and the forms must be submitted to the Secretariat of Wushu Federation of Asia and Chinese Taipei Wushu Federation no later than 24:00 (Taipei time) on July 1st, 2016 by mail or fax. 10. Final Entry (Competition Events & Athletes Names):

The final entry forms and level of difficulties must be submitted to above addresses no later than 24:00 (Taipei time) on August 1st, 2016 by mail or fax.

a. The final entry forms shall be printed in triplicate. One shall be sent to the Secretariat of Wushu Federation of Asia, the second copy shall be sent to Chinese Taipei Wushu Federation and the last copy must be brought by the team as confirmation during the team registration.

b. No changes or additional entries will be accepted after the deadline. On special occasions, if the federation requests to adjust submitted entry forms or to submit the entry after the deadline, they must apply in written document for approval by the Technical Committee of Wushu Federation of Asia. Meanwhile, a penalty of US$100.00 is required for each person’s change or delay. No changes will be accepted after 24:00 (Taipei time) of August 30th, 2016.

c. All entries must be printed in English or Chinese. They are valid only when singed by the President of Secretary General of the respective federation and bearing the official stamp of the federation.

11. REGISTRATION AND FINANCIAL CONDITIONS

a. All the Judges are required to register on August 29th, 2016. All the Participating teams are required to register no later than August 30th, 2016. The Organizing Committee will provide the accommodation and transportation from August 29th until September 6th, 2016.

b. Accommodation for participating teams will be organized by the Organizing Committee in designated hotels.

Accommodation fees for teams: Double room: US$85.00 per person per day. Single room: US$100.00 per person per day.

Accommodation fees for team judges: Double room: US$85.00 per person per day. Single room: US$100.00 per person per day.

Accommodation fees for extra number of participants or observers:

Double room: US$90.00 per person per day. Single room: US$100.00 per person per day.

c. The preliminary entry for hotel accommodation must state the exact number of rooms required. This shall be sent to Chinese Taipei Wushu Federation by mail or fax before July 1st, 2016.

d. In order to secure the accommodation, all participating teams are required to transfer 50% of the accommodation fee to the bank account as mentioned below, no later than 24:00 (Taipei time) of July 1st, 2016. The remaining 50% balance must be transferred no later than 24:00 (Taipei time) of August 1st, 2016. If the participating teams do not comply with the deadline of the accommodation fee, the accommodation will not be guaranteed. The teams will be solely responsible for the consequences that may occur.

e. The Wushu Federation of Asia and Organizing Committee request that all participating teams should lodge at the designated hotels. Those who do not stay at the designated hotels will have to pay a participation fee of US$100.00 per athlete and US$80.00 per team manager, coach and doctor. If a participant cannot take part in the competition for personal reasons, the participant shall be held responsible for such.

12. COMPETITION MANAGEMENT AND TECHNICAL OFFICIALS

a. The Organizing Committee of the 9th Asian Wushu Championships shall be responsible for the organization of the competitions during the championships under the guidance of the Wushu Federation of Asia Executive Committee and Technical Committee.

b. Each participating team may send one International Grade Judge for Taolu and Sanda (must present their valid license issued by International Wushu Federation for registration).

c. The Jury members and technical officials will be invited after consultation between the Organizing Committee and the Wushu Federation of Asia.

13. TECHNICAL MEETING

The technical meeting for team manager and coaches will take place at 09:00 of August 31st, 2016. At the meeting, the matter related to the competition will be announced. Each participating team may send two representatives for Taolu and Sanda to attend the technical meeting.

14. DRAW-LOTS CEREMONY

The draw-lots ceremony will take place at 10:00 of August 31st, 2016 hosted by the Technical Committee of Wushu Federation of Asia. Each team may send two representatives for Taolu and Sanda to attend the draw-lots ceremony. The Technical Committee will draw on behalf of the teams that are unable to send a representative.

15. WEIGH-IN

Weigh-in for Sanda athletes will take place at 07:00 a.m. on August 31st, 2016.

16. OTHER MATTERS

a. Each participating team shall strictly abide by the rules and regulations of the competition and compete fairly.

b. Those who violate the rules and regulations shall be dealt with seriously in accordance with the regulations of Wushu Federation of Asia.

c. Participating team is required to bring the following:

i. 3 pieces of national flags, regional flags or federation flags(1m × 2m)

ii. National anthem or federation song in CD

iii. 3 color photos(passport size) per team member

iv. Health Certificates of Taolu and Sanda athletes, life insurance certificate and waiver of liabilities for each participants

v. Copy of Final Entry Forms
