Write a Fairy Tale

Working in small groups, your assignment is to create an original fairy tale! The story your group writes and illustrates must be an imaginative story that demonstrates the main character overcoming an adversity in order to achieve their goal. The adversity you write about should be one that that today’s teen might face. When writing your story, you should stretch out the problem to create tension. Remember that when you are writing a fairy tale, you shouldn't summarize the events. Use dialogue, thoughts, and action to make your story more exciting!

Listed below are several common elements found in a traditional fairytale as well as the guidelines for this assignment.

ELEMENTS OF A FAIRY TALE

You must also follow the guidelines below in order to complete your Fairy Tale:

1. All Fairy Tales MUST have a Title Page. Your Title Page MUST also include the Title, Authors, and Illustrator(s). 2. Your story title must be creative, should spark interest, and needs to relate to the story. 3. Illustrations are mandatory and should help bring your story to life. 4. Fairy Tales may be typed or hand written. If they are hand written they must be legible! 5. When typing your story please use a font size no smaller than 14 and no bigger than 16. Also make sure that the font you choose is easy to read. 6. Your story should be about 7 to 10 pages long. 7. There should be a minimum of four illustrations including the cover page.
