Overview: Patient portals enable patients to access test results, pay bills, check schedules, and facilitate patient- provider communication by contacting their providers and share medical information online. Patient communication via patient portals can improve practice efficiency as well as enhance patient care, communication and engagement. Learn the benefits of using patient portals and how to incorporate them successfully into your practice.

Desired Learning Outcomes: At the completion of this learning activity, participants should be able to: • Identify the benefits of using patient portals. • Evaluate the patient portals available and how they can improve practice efficiency, decrease errors, and increase patient outcomes. • Utilize patient portals to enhance patient care, communication and engagement. • Explain what Meaningful Use Stage 2 Patient Engagement Measures mean to patients and providers.
