3 ways to participate. Children may compete in Tajweed recitation OR Memorization with their age group (or above) or choose to recite Surahs they are comfortable with.
All children who recite well will receive recognition (a prize). Children competing in one of the 2 ways with their age group will be eligible for a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes.

Anyone between the ages of 4 and 15 years old as of December 31, 2014 is eligible to participate.
Individuals can only participate in the category they registered for. All participants must submit their registration form on or before March 21st 2014
Participants cannot register in a group that’s younger than his/her age, or have previously competed and won a place in prior years.
Individuals may choose to register under one of 3 categories:
1- Recitation by memory from predetermined surahs for a chance to place 1st, 2nd, or 3rd.
2- Reading with Tajweed within the 21st to 25th juz’, for a chance to place 1st, 2nd, or 3rd.
3- Recitation from memory of any surahs of the participant’s choosing; all participants will receive recognition.
Participants may choose to switch their registration group no later than April 25th.
Rules for the Tajweed & Memorization Competition
In each category the contestants will be asked to recite different verses from several
Surahs, which will be selected by the judges.
Contestants competing in the advanced group will only be allowed to recite Surahs or Juz’ they have yet to recite in previous competitions. For the Tajweed competition, the score will be determined from 100 points as follows:
Correct and fluent recitation of Qur’an ……………………………………20%
Proper pronunciation of letters (makharij & sifaat)………………..……..30%
Application of the Tajweed rules………….……..……….………………..50%
For the memorization competition, the score will be determined from 100 points as follows:
Ability to recite sections asked by the judges…………………….…….20% Proper pronunciation of letters and words with tajweeed……………..30% Quality of memorization (accuracy and fluency)…………….….……...50%
Preparation Tips
Listening to professional reciters and attempting to mimic them is an effective method to beautify one's tajweed and recitation.
