Section C: Our School Business Experience Here is a brief description of the school business we ran before/are currently running, including the products/services we sold/are selling.
The school rendered an image of an educational institution. The institution with the willingness of undertaking responsibility to uplift and improve the underprivileged simultaneously incorporating in own students the capability to believe in themselves and start working for a social cause. While the school contributed for the benefit of the deprived class and was able to gain support from all the quarters. The school wanted to improve the status of the marginalised section of the society. While the world is becoming self centred, there were many who wanted to make a difference in lives of those who needed a change. The institution is currently selling the following products: 1. Clay models 2. Handicrafts
Section D: Our Resources Considering our school’s physical resources, skills and location, these are the resources available at our school we can use to develop our business: In school we have enough resources to start the proposed business:
a. Good Infrastructure: We have well furnished rooms which include class rooms, art rooms and playgrounds in our campus. These rooms are specially designed for various activities such as of best out of waste, growing seedlings. The students can carry on out work, sit at ease and interact with teachers and peer group easily for better outcomes. b. Expert Faculty : We have trained and experienced faculty specially allocated for activities related to creating herbal gardens in the school premises and also in the parks in the society. Who can also guide and facilitate students in learning and developing various farming skills. c. Availability of products at ease: During the PTMs & other annual events we plan to put up stalls to sell the products made by the children 2 and showcase the products generated to the parents and other chief guests.
Section E: Brainstorming Business Ideas a) These are the five business ideas we thought of when brainstorming a new idea or a way of diversifying or growing the existing one:
1. Paper Bags and envelopes 2. Handicrafts material 3. Organic farming and best out of waste 4. Gift items and utility items through clay modelling 5. Product made from handmade paper 6. Herbal garden b) The business idea we chose for our Silver Award is:
The three reasons for choosing these ideologies are:
The business we would like to set up is of HANDICRAFT ITEMS AND HERBAL GARDEN.
Reason 1: The expertise and guidance of our experienced facilitator can help the school children in mastering the skills of gardening and making handicraft items which can be inculcated and cascaded to the under privileged students at ease.
Reason 2: The infrastructure of our school support us to train the students in making items out of waste material and carrying on gardening activities as the raw material can be made available at ease, making our business technically feasible.
Reason 3: The sale of products will help the underprivileged by providing them a sustainable source of income as high profit margin can be generated with very nominal cost of production.
Our final Business Idea will be sustainable and have a positive impact on the environment and our community because:
People: Our business will have a positive impact on all those deprived and underprivileged communities which will help the children to at least sustain a living for themselves. They will sell the products like boxes, innovative gifts etc. which can be produced. Since the products will be made as a part of the training imparted to the school students and also to the children of the underprivileged section of the society, the results thus achieved will be two fold. One, the school children will learn the values of not only working to earn, but also, to give back to the 3 SILVER Business Idea Template 2017. ©Teach A Man To Fish [email protected] society to which they belong. Second, the children of the slum clusters will have skills to support themselves.
Profit: The underprivileged strata can earn good profit margin as the cost of production is very low whereas the revenues generated will be comparatively high. Whatever capital will be generated as the part of the enterprise, will be used for providing the children of the disadvantaged section of the society with a better standard of living and with new opportunities for education and better facilities.
Planet: It will contribute its bit for the environment as the handicraft items are prepared using eco-friendly raw material. The ‘Recycling waste’ initiative speaks volumes about itself. The enterprise was set off with two motives: To preserve and conserve mother earth from pollution free and eco friendly; to help the underprivileged children of the society. To make the environment eco friendly.
Section F: Financing our growth and development 6. Here is a description of how we are planning to finance our business, including how we are going to raise the money needed for our school business. Yes our business needs a little amount of capital which we will raise by selling the handicraft items Gardening will be done through maintaing herbal garden as well by growing some medicinal plants which will have a good demand in market which in turn help us to generate good amount of revenues to start up the proposed business. Handicraft items will be made by the students and teachers will be appointed with great creative skills to innovate and produce new products from wastes like old newspapers, crushed papers, empty bottles etc which can be sold to generate captial to start the business.
