These ten years saw a lot of changes in the Kinette clubs across Canada. There was an increased interest in controlling their own destiny. The Kinette Clubs of Canada fought and finally won the right to have "Open Membership", and to no longer be an auxiliary to the Kinsmen Club.
On the local level, the Kinette Club of Medicine Hat found that more and more of its members were "working in the community work force" and this had a definite effect on the amount
Page 16 of time and energy that the members could devote to Kinette projects. They still remain very active, however, as you will see by the number of projects that they continue to support.
The common projects for this decade include: Kingo Bingo, Cystic Fibrosis, Steinbach Cookbook Sales, College scholarships, Grade Eight Home Economics Awards, Music Festival Awards, 4-H Public Speaking Awards, New Citizens Tea, Blood Donor Clinic, Hospital Auxiliary Tea, Christmas and Easter Hampers, and Decorating a hospital ward at Christmas. They still assist the Kinsmen with the Car Award, Skate-AThon, T.V. Auction, and Oktoberfest.
Socials still include: Mixed Installation, Kiddies' Christmas Party, New Years Eve Party, Anniversary Night, and a Kin Kiddies' Picnic.

During this decade we entered a new millennium. With that, there was much change and yet many things remain the same. In 1994 the association of Kin voted to allow a third type of club in which both men and women could be members. After a lengthy debate and an extension from 40 to 45 years, the upper age limit was abolished in 1999.
The Medicine Hat Kinette Club continues to support many ongoing projects including the Terry Fox Run, Christmas decorating at the maternity ward of the hospital, Christmas hampers, hosting New Citizens’ Teas, and Rotary Music Festival Awards.
We continue to assist the Kinsmen with some of their projects including Kin TV Auction, Kinsmen Car Award, and more recently the PolkaFest and Spectrum Beer Garden.
Kin Socials held on a yearly basis include a mixed Installation, Car Rally, Kin Kiddies Picnic, Kin Kids Christmas Party, both a winter and summer Kin Kampout at Elkwater, and Family Glow Bowling. “Secret Sisters” remain a favorite activity to provide friendship and support within our club.
The decade ends with Medicine Hat hosting District Convention 2001: A Spaced-Out Odyssey and the Medicine Hat Kinette Club celebrating their 60th anniversary.
