“Poof” Book Instructions
(Remember, when we made the Academic Language, or Vocabulary book, we put three of these “Poof” books together with a rubber band. When we made the Sensory Language book, we only used one “Poof” book and glued the last page to the envelope book.)
1. Take a sheet of paper (any size, we used 11X17 in the workshop) and fold it in half along the long line of symmetry. (hotdog)
2. Fold it in half again along the short line of symmetry (hamburger) and one more time in half along the short line of symmetry (hamburger).
3. Now unfold the sheet until you have one fold along the long line of symmetry left and you can see fold lines that make four rectangles.
4. You now need to sheer or cut a very thin strip off the edge of the fold on rectangles 2 and 3. Rectangles 1 and 4 should still have their fold intact.
5. When you completely unfold your sheet of paper, you should see a slit running along the long line of symmetry through square 2 and 3.
6. Now, fold your sheet in half again along the long line of symmetry. Turn your folded sheet so that the slit is on top and then stand it up on the table. Hold the paper on the creased fold in the middle of your slit. Pull the pages in opposite directions to form four rectangles pointing in four different directions.
7. Take each rectangle and fold them together so that you have what looks like a four page book.
You have now made your first “Poof” Book! Congratulations! If you use the envelope book like we did in the workshop, you will need four of these “Poof” Books altogether.
This is a second set of instructions for the “poof” book. I have written it the way we made them in the workshop. The other instructions are basically the same; they just fold a piece of paper, not an envelope. These instructions will help you to be sure your envelope pockets are on the outside of the book. Use which ever set is best for you to follow! :0)
