Symptom: DL9000 Will Not Accept New Firmware Via USB Thumb Drive

Symptom: DL9000 Will not accept new firmware via USB thumb drive.

Cause: Any DL9000 with Firmware version 1.82 or older will require an upgrade via a FAT-16 PC Card via METHOD A, on this page. After applying a single new firmware update of 2.02 or later, subsequent updates can be performed via USB Thumb Drive.

METHOD A - Updating firmware using a FAT16 PC Card (CompactFlash) (use this one-time method for versions 1.82 or older) 1. Copy the DL9000.bin file into the root directory of the PC Card. PC Card must be formatted as FAT-16. 2. Start with the DL9000 turned OFF and insert the PC Card into the DL9000. 3. Press the '7' key while powering on the DL9000. Wait a few minutes while the updating process runs. 4. When completed, the 'START/STOP' key will stay lit. 5. Note: Please DO NOT power off the unit until the completion. 6. Turn off the DL9000 and then turn it back on while pressing the 'RESET' key 7. This completes the update. 8. Confirm the updated firmware version on the SYSTEM --> Overview screen. 9. Future upgrades may use Method B or USB thumb drive (see next page). METHOD B - Updating firmware using a PC Card (CompactFlash) 1. Copy the DL9000.bin file to the PC Card 2. Start with the DL9000 turned ON and insert the PC Card into the DL9000 3. Load the DL9000.bin file: 4. FILE --> Select 'Storage Card' for the file Path 5. Highlight DL9000.bin file using rotary knob 6. SET --> Load --> Load Exec --> OK 7. Please DO NOT power off the unit until the completion. 8. When firmware loading and updating is complete, the DL9000 will automatically reboot. 9. Confirm the updated firmware version on the SYSTEM --> Overview screen.

USB Method - Updating firmware using a USB memory device 1. Copy the DL9000.bin file to the USB memory device 2. Start with the DL9000 turned ON and connect the USB device to one of the front USB ports 3. Load the DL9000.bin file: 4. FILE --> Select USB Storage Path 5. Highlight DL9000.bin file using rotary knob 6. SET --> Load --> Load Exec --> OK 7. Please DO NOT power off the unit until the completion. 8. When firmware loading and updating is complete, the DL9000 will automatically reboot. 9. Confirm the updated firmware version on the SYSTEM --> Overview screen.
