Permission Slip For Haunted Pumpkin Patch “Field Of Screams” Trip, Friday, October 17

Permission Slip for The Maize at the Pumpkin Patch Friday, October 21. Sauvie Island Corn Maize - 16511 NW Gillihan Rd, 97231

(GO TO THE SECOND CORN MAZE AT THE PUMPKIN PATCH!!!)

DETAILS:

-We are traveling by carpool, and we need drivers! This year’s group is larger than ever, so we will need at least 15 drivers. Drivers do not have to go in the maze or pay, and there is a nice covered area for parents to hang out before the bonfire. If we don’t get enough drivers we won’t be able to go.

-Students and drivers will meet at Wilshire Park at 6:00 pm, leave by 6:15, and arrive at the Corn Maize at 6:45. We need to arrive together to get our group passes.

- When we meet at Wilshire, we will form “pods” of several students and their driver. It will be up to the driver when the pod leaves the Pumpkin Patch. Students will respect the wishes and requests of their driver at all times, including when it is time to leave for home after the bonfire.

-At the Corn Maize, students will be counted by the staff, given wrist bands and briefed on what to expect in the Maize.

-Cost per student is $8.00, which includes the discounted price we get for making a reservation, and the bonfire afterward.

-Please bring cash by Wednesday the 19th. (I have already put the $200.00 deposit on my credit card.)

-Wear boots or old shoes and pants that can get muddy- the Pumpkin Patch is quite damp this time of year. We will bring plastic bags to protect drivers’ cars. (If it’s rainy, a second pair of shoes for the trip home would be good…)

Driver Insurance Info: Please bring a copy of your insurance card to the office before 4:00 on Wednesday if you are able to drive. I believe we will have about 60 students, so we’ll need about 15 drivers. Drivers are not required or needed to chaperone the students in the Maize. There is a nice covered area for drivers to sit on hay bales, drink cider and wait for us. (I will go through the Maize!)

After the trip, pod drivers are asked to stay with students in their pod until parents have picked them up, or may choose to drop them off at home. NOTE: This trip is not appropriate for younger siblings. I will be thrilled to take them in 8th grade! Also, I am not comfortable taking non-band or non-Beaumont students because I don’t have a previous relationship with them, so I don’t know them or what kind of behavior/compliance to expect from them.

Students are not expected to stay with Mrs. Plank or with chaperones once we are in the Maize; it is self-contained and run well by the Pumpkin Patch staff.

After the Maize, we will be escorted to a bonfire! It will help us to have someone coordinate with me to get the treats we need: Marshmallows, Semi-sweet chocolate chips, Graham Crackers, water in two gallon jugs, cider, paper cups and Wet Wipes for sticky fingers. Let me know if you can lead on treats for the crew.

CAR POOL DETAILS: This year I am asking students and parents to work on coordinating student rides and the carpools before we go.
