FORTY VOLUNTEERS FROM IRONSHORE TO BEGIN 4TH NEW SANDY CONSTRUCTION IN UNION BEACH FOR HABITAT FOR HUMANITY IN MONMOUTH
Matawan, N.J. (August XX, 2014) – On August 27, more than forty employees of Ironshore’s New York office will volunteer with Habitat for Humanity in Monmouth County to begin construction on the affiliate’s fourth new Sandy residence and its third build in Union Beach. Volunteers from Ironshore, a global specialty and casualty insurance company, will work in groups to panelize walls for the two-story project on Prospect Avenue in Union Beach to rebuild the Morgan family home.
Union Beach was one of the hardest hit communities during Sandy in October 2012. Immediately after the storm, the community received support from the National Guard and, since then, has received a steady flow of volunteer support from across the country and through many nonprofit agencies. Brook and Prospect Avenues were among the most devastated areas of the small Bayshore community. This new build will be the second on Prospect Avenue for the Habitat affiliate. To date, the affiliate has completed over 85 Sandy projects throughout its service area. The road to recovery in the Union Beach community remains slow. As some families have been able to rebound from the tragic event, many are still unable to return to their homes more than 22 months later.
“We are so grateful for the outpouring of support for our community still struggling to recover almost 2 years post-Sandy,” commented Ray Gabler, Executive Director for Habitat in Monmouth. “It’s corporations like Ironshore that recognize the continued need for volunteers and donations that allow us to continue our work and impact in the recovery process.”

“Ironshore volunteers are eager to work with Habitat in Monmouth to launch this home construction project for the Morgan family, who have been severely displaced from their home for too long,” said Tim McAuliffe, President of Ironshore U.S. Specialty Casualty. “Many of us who reside with our families in New Jersey feel grateful that we can now offer our spirit and hands-on support to continue Habitat’s unwavering commitment to continue its mission in Monmouth communities.”
