Miss Georgia Scholarship Organization

2013 Princess Program

If you are a young lady between 5 and 12 years old, you can be a princess in the Miss Georgia Princess Program. As a Miss Georgia Princess, you will be taking part in the 2013 Miss Georgia Scholarship Pageant.

The Miss Georgia and Miss Georgia’s Outstanding Teen Pageants will take place the week of June 15th-22nd, 2013 in Columbus, GA. If you are interested in becoming a part of this program, please complete and mail the Application Package to the Miss Georgia Office no later than March 25, 2013. All registration fees and non-refundable crown fees must be paid by the March deadline. It is very important that you complete each section, specifically the email and the emergency contact number for parents/guardians so we have a way to contact you with details about the week and for when you are in Columbus for pageant week.

After March 25, 2013, and after the pageant schedule has been set, you will receive via email, information detailing the dates, times, additional wardrobe (if needed) and events that have been scheduled for the Princesses during Pageant Week. It will be late May or the first of June before the email can be sent with all of the information. As we get closer to the pageant, you will receive any additional information that may include changes to the schedule, etc. We will try to get information out as quick as possible, but please note that scheduling can be difficult and does take time. The only required clothing at this time is detailed in the General Rules.

Please review each document in this packet and read it fully, especially the General Rules and go over them with your child. We will be abiding by these rules, especially regarding rehearsals, performances, behavior and personal devices/items. If you have any questions regarding these or any other rules, please contact Jessica White at [email protected].

We look forward to another wonderful year working with these lovely young ladies in what is truly a magical experience for everyone. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

The Miss Georgia Pageant holds its’ Miss & Teen competitions together for the 3 preliminaries and finals night. As part of the package, the Princesses are given seats with the group in the Mezzanine level as we must move during the productions in order to participate in the pageant. Please note that this means that on ALL nights, the Princesses will miss parts of the show in order to participate. We make every effort to let the girls see who is crowned on the Finals night, but we CANNOT for their safety stay in the theatre each night until the production is finished. Not only are we responsible for moving them to the sign-out location, we also have to be ready to sign them out so that visitation can take place. THEY MUST BE SIGNED OUT IN AN ORDERLY FASHION. It may seem tedious and does take some time, but we do this for the safety of your children.

If you are not familiar with the Miss Georgia Pageant, I ask that you consult with your franchise or Miss contestant in regards to purchasing tickets for your family for the pageant, the other events that take place during the week and how to request tickets, nightly visitation and how to send and receive mail for contestants and Princesses. If you are not familiar with the Miss America system, please contact Jessica White at [email protected] to assist you with placement with a contestant and/or any questions regarding the pageant.

At this time, we list our Princesses by FRANCHISE. As there are several contestants in both Miss and Teen, we must use the Franchise to sort them in the correct grouping and go by the MISS group order.

Also, please note that the Miss & Teen competitions are combined, therefore, the evenings are very long, 2 ½ to 3 hours. Adding to this is the fact that the Princesses portion of the production is toward the end, around the Evening Wear competition. Just an FYI that the nights can be draining, especially on the younger girls, and we want them to enjoy the experience and not be tired by the time Saturday night rolls around. Please note that ALL Princesses usually have one (1) rehearsal/event per day depending on what competition their Miss is competing in.

Thank you for your participation and I look forward to seeing you in June! Miss Georgia Scholarship Pageant Princess Official Application (Please Print Legibly)

1. The Vice-President and/or Chairperson have complete charge of all activities during pageant week and have full authority to make decisions governing contact with Miss Georgia Princesses.

2. Any Princess whose conduct is deemed unbecoming by the Miss Georgia Pageant Committee will be asked to withdraw from the Miss Georgia Princess Program and will no longer be eligible for future participation. Parents are responsible for the conduct of their Miss Georgia Princess during the pageant week. Any conduct from a Princess that is considered rude, unruly or disrespectful, whether to another Princess, a Committee member or other persons will result in her immediate elimination from this program.

3. Princesses must listen to their chaperones at all times. This includes during the Miss & Teen Pageants. Excessive shouting, whistling or other loud behavior that is viewed as disruptive to the other ticket holders who are sitting in the same area as the Princesses will result in that Princess being removed from the auditorium and their parent called to pick up their child. Their behavior will be subject for review under Rule #2.

4. Princesses will not use Tobacco or drink Alcoholic Beverages and Smoking or GUM is not permitted at ANY time. Violation of these rules will bring automatic elimination from further participation in the Miss Georgia Princess Program.

5. No one is permitted backstage at any time except when authorized by security, pageant officials or production members. No one will be permitted in the contestants dressing rooms except authorized personnel. Miss Georgia Princesses will only be allowed backstage when accompanied by a pageant official/chaperone.

6. Miss Georgia Princesses will come to the auditorium dressed in production wardrobe. No personal hairdressers will be allowed and no one is allowed backstage in order to dress a princess. Changing of clothes is not permitted due to time and space constraints. Exact wardrobe is to be determined by pageant officials.

7. Miss Georgia Princesses are not allowed to leave the assigned areas once they are signed-in at anytime during the week without permission from one of the Miss Georgia Princess Committee members.

8. Once Princesses have been signed in, Parents must vacate the area for security purposes. Violation of these rules may bring automatic elimination from further participation in the Miss Georgia Princess Program. This includes Rehearsals, Parties, etc.

9. Princesses should be in assigned areas 20 minutes before scheduled times. Tardiness will not be permitted during pageant week.

10. All problems or complaints should be reported to the Miss Georgia Pageant Princess Chairperson or a Committee member immediately. Regardless of how small or large a complaint, please report it. A problem cannot be solved if no one knows about it except the Miss Georgia Princess, Franchise or family member.

11. From the time a princess arrives in Columbus for pageant week, until the finals are completed, Princesses are under the jurisdiction of the Miss Georgia Pageant and must abide by all rules and regulations.

12. Transportation, Tickets, Housing & Meals: You must provide your own transportation to all events while participating in the Miss Georgia Princess Program. Miss Georgia does not transport the Princesses for rehearsals, productions and/or other events. All Princesses, their families and friends are responsible for their own transportation, tickets, housing and meals during Pageant week in Columbus.

13. Princesses are required to wear their name badge at all times at the River Center. This is for their security. Violations of this rule may result in their inability to access the nightly visitation.

14. In order for the Princesses to be included in the production, they may be required to rehearse EACH day, as we have 3 different groups, and the order may change each day. If for some reason a Princess must miss a production rehearsal, she may not be allowed to participate in that production on that day subject to Production Staff’s approval.

15. The Princesses are only required to be present at Mandatory Events. All other events, whether part of the package given to each Princess or not, are optional and WILL NOT be chaperoned by Miss Georgia Princess committee members. This includes, but is not limited to, the Nightly Visitations, Miss Georgia Luncheon and the Miss Georgia Reception/Ball.

16. There are to be NO cell phones, pagers or any other electronic devices (Gameboy, DS, etc.) Due to the rules of the Rivercenter and movements that takes place with the Princesses each night, there is no space to hold personal items in the auditorium or backstage.

17. Princess officials and/or chaperones are not responsible for any of the Princesses personal items. Please refer to previous rule regarding personal items.

18. Bring all rehearsal materials with you – although you do not have to bring “dresses that you are wearing in the production” to rehearsal. Bring comfortable shoes, a jacket or sweater and a bag to keep it all in. Rehearsals can be long and the auditorium gets cold. Reading may also be helpful to keep you relaxed and make time go faster when you are not on stage.

19. There are to be NO drinks (including Water), food items, crayons, markers, paint products or pens brought into the Rivercenter for rehearsals or productions. Princesses must also refrain from placing their feet on the seat in front or to the side of them. The Rivercenter has adequate water fountains and restrooms to accommodate the Princesses during rehearsals and productions.

20. All princesses are encouraged to eat a balanced diet during the week and encouraged to eat before rehearsals, as no food or drinks are allowed in the auditoriums. You need to eat 3 meals and snacks a day to keep up your energy for long rehearsals and productions.

21. Stay with your group at all times, especially backstage. At the end of the show, your parent may pick you up in the Mezzanine level corner lobby. No Princess may sit with her parent unless the Chairperson has approved it due to special circumstances.

22. When the princesses are in the green room area and especially backstage, they MUST remain quiet and orderly. If a princess cannot stay quiet and orderly, she will be excluded from that evening’s production, and her parents will be called to pick her up. Their behavior will be subject for review under Rule #2. 23. Parents will not be allowed in the auditorium during rehearsals, but may stay in the Lobby area. Princesses should be dropped off at the designated area of the River Center.

24. Whenever you leave the Rivercenter for Performing Arts, you MUST sign out at the Miss Georgia Princess Registration Station. Once a Princess has been signed out, she cannot be signed back in. This is for everyone’s safety and security.

25. For the Miss Georgia Evening Gown night participation, you must wear a SOLID WHITE tea length or longer style dress with matching shoes. Please refrain from large “ball-type” gowns, or dresses with large skirts, as the Princesses must be able to move and sit comfortably in these dresses.

26. You are required to wear shoes on stage at all times. For the Miss Georgia Productions in your WHITE dress , DO NOT wear clog sandals, shoes with more than a 2 inch heel or flip-flops style shoes.

27. Each Princess MUST purchase, through Miss Georgia, the Princess crown. This crown will be worn during pageant week and must be the only one worn during the week. A non-refundable fee of $75.00 must be sent in so that your crown can be purchased. If you choose to participate in subsequent years, you may choose to use your previously purchased crown, or purchase another crown at the fee listed.
