Alliance and QPSI to Open Contract Packing Facility in Iowa City, Iowa

Winston-Salem, NC, February 6, 2009 – Alliance, a RockTenn company based in Winston-Salem, NC, and QPSI, a contract packaging and supply chain solutions company based in New Jersey, have announced plans to open a 192,000 square-foot, contract packing facility in Iowa City, Iowa. The primary focus of the new operation will be to provide key consumer packaged goods and retail customers a complete supply chain solution for consumer packaging, display systems, contract packing, fulfillment and distribution services. With a target opening date of May 1, 2009, the facility will bring approximately 100 new jobs to Eastern Iowa.

According to Tim Fialko, Alliance Vice President -- Operations, “We provide promotional supply chain solutions for consumer packaged goods companies and retailers – all through a single source. QPSI merges the best-in-class core competencies of three companies – Alliance, QPSI and OHL (Ozburn-Hessey Logistics). The 15 contract packing and fulfillment facilities managed by Alliance and QPSI are all run by the same ERP systems and, thereby, offer our customers seamless solutions in strategic locations across the U.S. and in Canada.”

The new facility will inventory customers’ products, promotional packaging and retail display materials prior to assembly, packout and shipment to distribution centers and retail stores across the country. RockTenn also operates a folding carton plant for consumer products companies in Clinton, Iowa. That plant currently employs 290 people.
