Minutes of CYO General Board Meeting September 10, 2012

Attendees: George Downs, Gene Ferraiolo, Pat Laphen, Ray Massi, Margie Henry, Bob Rafferty, Jennifer Mathes, Mike Mattise, Art Tarquini, Tom Farrell, Pat Reger, Mark McPeak, Donna Foster, Brian Joslin and Coaches: Ed Graham, Kathleen Meehan, Paul Sterns, Ken Gasser, Jim Racine, Ken Lain, Marisa Palermo

Meeting began with a prayer Minutes reviewed and approved by Bob Rafferty and Donna Foster

1. Treasurer’s Report: Ray Massi- a. Collected $9,000 from football b. Field Hockey handed in their fees. Others need to. c. Sizeable expenditures, scorer’s table, floor maintenance

2. President’s Report: George Downs a. Thank you to coaches b. Homecoming is October 13th c. All athletes will be announced d. Paul Sterns will bring tent e. October 15th is the golf outing

3. Coaches’ Certifications: Mark McPeak a. Theresa Laphen will get updated lists b. Mark needs to ensure the Criminal History and background check for everyone c. We will need another class scheduled- not sure who handles this. d. There are some football coaches for which we had no information. e. Bob Rafferty will handle that. f. JV coaches need clearances.

4. Fall Athletic Director: Bob Rafferty a. It’s a challenge with the Gauntlett Center and the football field situation b. Waiting for game schedule from Chris McCuen c. Trying to get Marple Senior High for games d. Concern with Homecoming…Township is working on it e. An electronic copy of JV Field Hockey Roster is needed for Bob to assign ball drop tickets f. Spread the word about Homecoming, Ball Drop, etc.

5. Football: Eddie Graham (Varsity and JV) a. Varsity is 6, 0 b. 37 kids on Varsity c. Waiting on field availability and schedule d. If not active in CCD, child will not play e. Bob Rafferty checked into the above and we are good! f. Question raised...”What is happening with bathrooms? g. Bob Rafferty will call Mike Duman (sp?) from Marple Newtown Facilities to find out about bathrooms

6. Varsity Field Hockey: Donna Foster a. Kathleen Meehan stated there are 28 girls, 4 squads b. It’s going well c. 2-0 first scrimmage d. O’Hara’s running a Play Day on Sunday e. Uniforms might need to be placed on the list

7. JV Field Hockey: Kathy Kamper (Unable to attend meeting)

a. Mark McPeak reported that they lost first scrimmage 2-0

b. 3 squads

c. Equipment is fine.

8. Cross Country- Paul Sterns a. There are 32 sub novices b. Need more smaller uniforms c. This year they will run with chips embedded in the bibs d. $20 each was collected for a total of $1100 e. Service Project is going to be a clothing drive f. The 16th is their first meet g. Every Sunday at Belmont Plateau-6meets h. Scholar Athlete plaque needs to be updated i. 2010 and 2011 Honorees need to be clarified j. Gene will email that information 9. Volleyball – Ken Gasser a. 15 players for varsity b. 13 players for JV c. Service Project – Breakfast bags

10. Varsity Soccer: Jules Kamper (unable to attend meeting) a. Jim Racine stated there were two losses over the weekend b. Played two best teams in the league c. One injury-broken ankle

11. JV Soccer: Tom Farrell a. 30 kids, 3 squads, looking great! b. Two high school girls are helping with Soccer

12. Flag Football – Ken Lain a. Currently 64 sign ups b. Half of the money is collected c. First Game is the weekend of the 22nd

13. Winter Athletic Director: Jennifer Mathes a. There are three coach openings for basketball b. October 17 is registration c. Jen will send information to Margie to get it in Church Bulletin, CCD and Ebell d. The above has been handled

14. Cheerleading –Marisa Palermo a. Sarah will be helping full-time b. She will need clearances

15. Service Project – Tom Farrell a. Nothing new to report

16. Spring Athletic Director: Mike Mattise – a. Will email to find which coaches are coming back b. Lacrosse is unknown still how it will play out in the fall c. Mike contacted new CYO head and there are still many questions 17. Technology Report- Pat Reger a. Will make updates to the web as needed.
