SANTO DOMINGO DE GUZMÁN A most outstanding construction built in the late 16th and early 17th centuries. It constitutes one of the finest examples of Mexican Baroque. Oaxacan artisans using finely carved wood covered with gold leaf made the splendid altarpiece. During the 18th century Santo Domingo expanded acquiring a vast number of works of art until it became a magnificent symbol of three centuries of viceroyalty in Oaxaca.

CULTURAL MUSEUM Containing the history and traditions of Oaxaca, from the earliest nomadic people to the many indigenous groups of more recent times. Among other articles refined prehispanic treasures such as the one from tomb 7 at Monte Alban.

ANDADOR TURÍSTICO Paved with green hewn stone it joins El Zócalo, many colonial buildings, art galleries, restaurants, craft shops and Santo Domingo Church. It is located on the street named after a famous Oaxacan musician Macedonio Alcala. Strolling along this passage is a pleasant experience you should not miss.

ZÓCALO This lovely park it’s the geographical and social center of the city, in the early evening either the state band or marimba musical groups play in the central gazebo. Full of life with vendors, students, tourist and local people it’s the ideal place just to sit and the two principal markets of the city.

MONTE ALBÁN Six miles southwest from Oaxaca's capital city we come upon the prehispanic city of Monte Alban. It is a breathtaking archaeological site among the most impressive in Mexico, founded in approximately 500 BC and flourishing until 750 AD. The ancient city of the Zapotecos consists of a huge central area known as the Main Plaza surrounded by a number of buildings, platforms and staircases. Some of the most outstanding structures are the Ball Court, the Building of the Dancers and the Southern and Northern Platforms.

EL TULE TREE Travelling east just six miles from Oaxaca's capital city you will find one of nature's miracles of this area the gigantic Tree of El Tule. This marvellous example of our flora is 2000 years old tree with an approximated weight of 636,107 tonnes. It stands 41.85 m. high with a diameter of 14.05 m. And a perimeter of 57.9 m.

TEOTITLÁN DEL VALLE The Zapotecs community of Teotitlán del Valle is world-famous for its production of colourful wool rugs. Beyond an astounding array of designs of astonishing and mathematical complexity is the technique used which dates back to Pre-Hispanic times ; rug makers use natural dyes for coloration such as alfalfa leaves, the Indigo plant, nutshells and tree barks, and the Cochineal bug, as well as a variety of seeds, fruits and flowers. MITLA Twenty-seven miles East of Oaxaca stands Mitla (from the word Mitla, meaning place of dead) formerly a sacred place. The decoration of the palaces is outstandingly beautiful for its magnificent fretwork made of countless polished stones, forming a mosaic of geometric designs. It was the most important postclassical archaeological site in the Oaxacan region reaching its maximum growth and splendour during the post classic period 750 AD to 1521 AD.

SAN BARTOLO COYOTEPEC Is located 7 miles South of the City, this village is famous for the production of several products created in black clay. Such products are manufactured manually and baked in underground ovens. This kind of clay has special qualities, since it takes on a totally black color once it is baked. Its crystal-like sound is also a main feature that distinguishes this material.

SANTO TOMAS JALIETZA Weaving cotton cloth has been a Zapotecs industry in Oaxaca for 2,500 years. Native weavers still use ancient cultural motifs and this town is famous for its weavings done on back- strap looms. You will find belts, jackets, placemats, ponchos, etc.

OCOTLÁN DE MORELOS This village is famous for its Indian market that occurs each Friday and is known as one of the largest and most interesting in the central valleys. Their colourfulness and size are impressive and only during this special occasion they achieve their maximum splendour; all the regional elements that are used in the offerings are sold, also we can appreciate it´s beautiful church from the sixteen century and the museum from de same age too.

CUILAPAN DE GUERRERO Four miles from Oaxaca's capital city, nestling in majestic mountains and small valleys you will find the Dominican Convent of Cuilapan. Built in the 16th century this gigantic edifice is renowned for its different styles of construction, for its open chapel and for being the place of the execution of a Mexican patriot, General Vicente Guerrero.

ZAACHILA A fascinating town known for being the last capital of the Zapotecs empire and for its Thursday market where the inhabitants of the surrounding villages congregate to sell their products. It is worth visiting the two tombs with their intriguing interior relief’s (human figures from which the flesh has been removed, felines, owls, etc.).

ARRAZOLA In the 1960´s a handful of artists in Arrazola started carving and painting animals of the copal wood. The copal tree wood has a sweet odour and its resin has been burned in incense braziers since ancient times. The Alebrijes are richly coloured figures of imaginary animals worked in wood from the nopalillo tree.

HIERVE EL AGUA (WATHERFALLS) after we eat we’ll continue our adventure with the beauty of nature like it is Hierve el Agua as the sounds that they are thermals waters they are not they look like that because they are high in minerals, the cascade height is. The ageists zapotecs believed that it was a holly place.

FACTORY OF MEZCAL We visit the factory of Mezcal where you will see the process to get this taste Indian drinks and also you shall try the different kind of creams of mescal that are made in the Ville.
