INFORMATIONAL METHODOLOGICAL CENTER FOR MULTICULTURAL EDUCATION AND TOLERANCE

Joint initiative of the Crimean ethnographic museum and Integration and development center for information and research. Founded under the financial support of the International Renaissance Foundation (IRF) within the framework of the “Multicultural education as the base of the tolerant international relations in Crimea”. Aim: to popularize the ideas of tolerance, intercultural education, mutual respect and collaboration of the diverse ethnical and confessional groups in the Crimean society. The center objectives:  establishment of the resource base for informational and methodological assistance for development of a multicultural and ethnic education of the Crimean peoples;  popularization of the cultures and religions of the peninsular, the ideas of the peaceful coexistence of the diverse confessions and ethnical groups of the Crimea;  exchange of the innovational educational projects centered around inter-ethnical dialogue and polilogue proficiency development;  informational and methodological support of revival, preservation and development of the national languages and dialects;  development and distribution of the special school educational programs, involving the potential of the Crimean Ethnographic museum and the cultural-ethnographic centers of Crimea;  wide distribution of the practical experience in conflict prevention and resolution (peer mediation, trainings for NGOs and others). The Centers proposals: Information and methodological services:  Profile literature library services, development of the lessons plans and extracurricular events;  Consultation services on selection of the published and other kind of information on the profile problems;  Organization of the seminars, lectures, round-tables, extracurricular events, lessons, festivals and presentations, concerned with the main objections of the Center. Organization and technical services:  organization and conduction of the seminars, round-tables and trainings;  letting the premises for conduction of different educational and cultural events;  organization of topical exhibitions and meetings with national-cultural societies and leading Crimean specialists on the ethnical history and traditional cultures, as well as with arts and crafts artists. What do we offer in 2006-2007?  seminars and practical works for the pre-school methodologists and directors of education and extra-curricular study on the base of the Crimean ethnographic museum (CEM);  development of the scientific and methodological complex of the educational course “Culture of the neighborhood”, concerned with inter-cultural education on the problems of inter-ethnical and inter- confessional co-relations;  training seminars for the primary and secondary school teachers on practicing the educational course “Culture of neighborhood”;  chain of round-tables and discussion clubs on the profile problems;  series of TV programs on the old times and present days experience of good neighborhood;  foundation of Euroclub, aimed at providing the information and breeding the youth in spirit of common European values;  children’s reports competition on the topic “Me and my neighbors”, with further publication of the best works;  development of the national Crimean arts and crafts school courses;  summer Ukrainian arts and crafts children’s courses. The center collaborates with the Ministry of Education and Science of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the Ministry of Culture of ARC, the Crimean affiliation of the Secondary Education National Methodological Center of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the Crimean Affiliation of the Institute of the Oriental Studies named after A.E.Krymskiy of the National Academy of Science, high schools of Ukraine, British Council of Ukraine, cultural- ethnographic centers and national-cultural societies.
