Greater Birmingham Chapter American Association of Critical Care Nurses Call for Proposals: 2015 Nursing Symposium
Dear Colleague:
The Greater Birmingham Chapter Nursing Symposium will be held at the Birmingham Marriott (Grandview) in Birmingham, Alabama on February 20th, 2015. The symposium is a held annually with participation of around 75 nurses each year. Evaluations of this symposium continue to be excellent and it has earned a great reputation.
The program committee seeks proposals that reflect state-of-the-art information in critical and acute care as well as leadership topics that introduce future trends. Speakers should be experts on the topics that they present and should incorporate the most recent research and advances in practice. Content should relate to the development of competence, proficiency, and excellence in these specific areas of nursing practice. Proposals are encouraged from health professionals in all disciplines.
Speakers receive an honorarium of $75 per hour presentation, complimentary symposium registration, lodging for one night (if not a local speaker) at the Hotel designated by GBCAACN, and ground travel expenses up to $100.00 travel reimbursement @ current IRS mileage reimbursement rates. Any other transportation expenses must be handled/approved by the program committee. Any other expenses are the responsibility of the speaker. Only one speaker per proposal will receive compensation; additional speakers will receive complimentary registration only. National AACN Speaker Guidelines apply and you may view these at AACN.org.
If you are submitting a proposal for a sponsored session, you are responsible for making all sponsorship arrangements directly with the company or institution. The sponsor is responsible for the honoraria and expenses of the speaker. GBCAACN will provide complimentary registration for the speaker. GBCAACN will not assume expenses if the sponsor withdraws. Funding is not a part of the selection criteria. Speakers selected must provide their own laptop for their presentation.

Notification of receipt of proposal is provided via email only. Notification of acceptance or non- acceptance will be e-mailed by January 7, 2015. This information will not be given by phone. Speakers who are selected will be responsible for submitting a signed contract agreement and any handouts by January 15, 2014. We look forward to receiving your proposals and abstracts.
