ENDORSEMENT & SELECTION PROCEDURES FOR NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS, ZONAL EVENTS, INTERSECTIONALS, 18 NATIONAL TEAM EVENTS AND WORLD TEAM TENNIS - 2013

Definitions:

ENDORSEMENT: Players that meet qualifications (ranking, age) are put on the USTA Northern Section Endorsement List. The number of players on each endorsement list is as follows:

Zonals (all age groups) – 50 16 Intersectionals – 12 18 National Team Championships (Girls and Boys) - 18 World Team Tennis (Girls and Boys) – 9 in 18’s and 9 in 16’s National Clay and Hard Courts, Spring Nationals and Winter Nationals (all age groups) - 20

SELECTION: Players are selected directly from the USTA Northern Section endorsement list. The player must be signed up online by the deadline to be selected. The USTA Northern Section selects the following number of players in each age group:

12 Zonals - 12 Boys, 12 Girls 14 Zonals - 12 Boys, 12 Girls 16 Zonals - 12 Boys, 12 Girls 16 Intersectionals – 4 Boys, 4 Girls 18 National Team Championships - 6 Boys 18 National Team Championships - 6 Girls World Team Tennis - 3 Boys, 3 Girls (16’s and 18’s, 18’s are given first consideration) All other national tournaments (Spring Championships, Clay Courts, Hard Courts & Winter Nationals) – The top 2 players to register in each age group receive an automatic bid. The section endorses more than 2 players in each age group. This does not mean every player has an automatic bid into the national championships. We are guaranteed 2 spots in each age group, but on occasion, more players will get in to these tournaments. If you have an interest in playing, please register. If you are not accepted, there is no fee charged. (To register online for national tournaments, go to usta.com - Competitive Tennis - Juniors)

If it is a goal of the player to become endorsed for summer national and zonal events, there are requirements that players must meet: Endorsement of players for Summer National Championships, Zonal Events, Intersectionals and 18 National Team Events will take place after the Junior Section L3. Endorsement is based upon the current ranking list after the Junior Section L3. Players will be endorsed in order of ranking, based upon the current standings list after the completion of the Junior Section L3. If a player chooses not to sign up, then the selection process continues down the list of those players that have been endorsed.

Hotel: Omaha Marriott 10220 Regency Circle, Omaha, NE 68114, 402- 399-9000, block is under Zonals Tennis. Block will be held until July 8th, but they will run out of double doubles, so book early!! $79 per night.

Entry fees are non-refundable after June 24, 2013.

12 Girls Clay Courts - Boca Raton, FL -2 girls will be selected by the section to attend

Dates: July 14th – July 19th

Hotel: Holiday Inn West, 2747 South 11th Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49009, 269-375- 6000, block is under USTA 14 & under. Block will be held until July 8th, but they will run out of double doubles, so book early!! Rate is 105.00 for single or double, 120.00 for a triple, 135.00 for a quad. This rate includes a breakfast buffet coupon for each person each morning that will be in the hotel restaurant. There is a business class floor that rooms have microwaves and mini-frig, it can be requested to be on that floor, but there are no guarantees. If you want to request a microwave or frig in any room that can be done upon making your reservation and is a one time fee of $15.00 per item. Coach: TBD (Parents not required to attend, the coach will chaperone the players)

Entry Fee and Housing Fee: $172.50 - only necessary to register under singles, USTA Northern will send all players names to the tournament for singles and doubles play (Register online under USTA Northern tournaments, tournament ID # – 550016613 deadline to register online is June 14, 2013 at 11am). Players will be staying with Host Families. Entry fee and housing fee are non-refundable after June 21, 2013

Dates: Arrive by 2P July 29, 2013, depart anytime the morning of August 2, 2013

Registration and Hotel fees are non-refundable after July 1, 2013.

*A flight will be arranged for the coach. Players will be given that itinerary in order to coordinate their flight with the coach's flight.
