HOLMES UPON THE OCCASION OF HER 13 RETIREMENT AS CLERK OF COURT FOR SALUDA 14 COUNTY AND TO WISH HER CONTINUED SUCCESS AND 15 HAPPINESS IN ALL HER FUTURE ENDEAVORS. 16 17 Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of 18 Representatives have learned that the Honorable Doris B. Holmes 19 will begin a welldeserved retirement after many years of faithful 20 and outstanding service to the citizens of the Palmetto State as 21 Clerk of Court for Saluda County; and 22 23 Whereas, former Clerk of Court Edith C. Padget, cousin of 24 Representative Ralph Kennedy, hired Doris Holmes in 1974 and 25 encouraged her to run for the office of clerk of court at the time of 26 the latter’s retirement in 1988. Doris Holmes ran unopposed and 27 took office in January 1989; and 28 29 Whereas, when she retires at the end of the current term, Mrs. 30 Holmes will have served fortytwo years in the Saluda County 31 Clerk of Court’s Office, the past twentyeight as clerk of court; and 32 33 Whereas, Doris Holmes has always found strength for her duties in 34 the firm support of her family: her husband, Elwyn; their sons, 35 Kirk and William; and their daughter, Amelia, who have been her 36 most faithful encouragers; and 37 38 Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is grateful 39 for the legacy of leadership Doris B. Holmes has bestowed on this 40 great State and appreciates the exemplary service she has given to 41 the citizens of South Carolina. The members take great pleasure in 42 wishing her well as she enters retirement and trusts she will find

[5125] 2 1 much enjoyment in the more leisurely pace of the days ahead. 2 Now, therefore, 3 4 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives: 5 6 That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, 7 by this resolution, recognize and commend the Honorable Doris B. 8 Holmes upon the occasion of her retirement as Clerk of Court for 9 Saluda County and wish her continued success and happiness in all 10 her future endeavors. 11 12 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to 13 the Honorable Doris B.
