College of International Studies Student Internship Support Grant

The College of International Studies provides limited funds to encourage and support IAS undergraduate and graduate internship opportunities. Students may apply for one $2,000 internship grant per academic year for travel and housing support related to international internship activities. Up to four awards will be granted for the summer term, one for the fall semester and one for the spring semester. Students receiving an Internship Support Grant must enroll in IAS 3910 or IAS 5913 for internship credit. To apply for an Internship Support Grant, students should submit the following: 1. The “Student Internship Support Grant” application form

2. A statement of purpose regarding the student’s qualifications and reasons why the student should receive an Internship Support Grant (limited to two pages)

3. A detailed budget proposal

4. A completed IAS 3910 application form (for undergraduate students), available at http://www.ou.edu/content/dam/International/IPC/2013%20Fall%20Docs/IAS %203910%20Internship%202.doc or a completed IAS 5913 application form (for graduate students), available at (http://www.ou.edu/content/dam/International/IPC/2013%20Documents/IAS %205913%20as%20Graduate%20Elective.doc )

5. One letter of recommendation from a faculty member in the Department of International and Area Studies

6. A transcript and a one page resume

Applicants must meet the following specific criteria:

Undergraduate Students: a minimum of one year of study at OU by the time of participation, with a minimum overall GPA of 3.0.

Graduate Students: nine credit hours, with a minimum overall GPA of 3.5.

Deadlines for 2013-14 International Internship Support Grant Applications: Fall internships –August 15, 2013 Spring internships –November 15, 2013 Summer internships –April 15, 2014
