II. Discussion – Ideas for Oct. Event -Grayce recapped that at the first meeting of the Task Force, members voted to do another training for law enforcement similar to last year’s event. Daisy stated that because the police send the same officers to such events, it would be difficult to have them show up to a similar event this year. As it was difficult to guarantee that the police would send different officers, the members present decided to focus on a different audience – school counselors and staff. -Daisy and Monica stated that there were many schools to contact in the Assemblymember’s district and that they should initially restrict the invitation to high schools. -Location – Daisy recommended Father Rick’s Church where APWC does their program. -Date – Oct. 3rd or 4th depending on the location -Time – 9am -12pm -Sponsors – Will approach Verizon again as well Soroptimist -Curriculum – cultural competency and will determine other subjects after conferring with APFC because will try and get continuing education credit certification by them

III. Follow Up Action Items -Lyane will check the dates with Father Rick -Grayce will follow up with APFC regarding certification and curriculum -Daisy and Monica will compile list of schools to contact -Veronica will assist with a flyer when information is ready

If member agencies are interested in participating, please let her know. -A request from Sunland –Tujunga Neighborhood Council came in for having a DV table at their National Night Out event on August 5th – they have had 2 DV shootings in the past several months -Veronica stated NLS may be interested as this area is next to their Pacoima office. -Monica gave information for the South El Monte National Night Out in case the Task Force or individual members wanted to get a table there. -Stephen Cabrera (626) 285-7177 ext. 3275 [email protected]
