 Conducted a series of field trips and investigation towards preparation of a Dossier on Large Dams for Hydropower in Northeast India. July 2002 – September 2005

Was responsible for environmental law and policy analysis as a consultant to the UNDP Post- Tsunami Environment Initiative undertaken by a consortium of NGOs.

Member, August 2006 – December 2006 National Task Force on Governance, Transparency, Participation and EIAs Planning Commission, India

In preparation for the XI five-year plan of the Planning Commission, this task force undertook to make recommendations to improve transparency and public participation in governance.

Member, September 2002 – December 2002 Editorial team, Ecologist Asia Special Issue (January – March 2003)

The special issue was on Large Dams in Northeast India: Rivers, Forests, People and Power. Was responsible for bringing together views from different parts of the region.

Research Associate, June 2000 – June 2002 Vice-Chair, International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN)

Assisted the Vice-Chair on ‘Local Communities, Equity and Protected Areas’ in establishing a mandate, delineate objectives and topics for work. A network of members at a global level was set up and the network was serviced with issues relevant to the theme. Outputs of the network were presented at the World Parks Congress, Durban in September 2003.
