THE CIVIL SERVICE BOARD ANNOUNCES PART II OF THE DALLAS POLICE DEPARTMENT LIEUTENANT PROMOTIONAL PROCESS TO BE GIVEN JULY 9-11, 2013 DALLAS CONVENTION CENTER – “A” MEETING ROOMS 650 SOUTH GRIFFIN STREET – DALLAS, TEXAS

ELIGIBILITY Only those candidates who attain a passing score on the multiple-choice written examination for Dallas Police Department Lieutenant are eligible to participate in the Dallas Police Department Lieutenant’s Assessment Center. Post-challenge written examination scores will be posted by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at 1500 Marilla, 1C-South.

Any candidate who requires an accommodation in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act must make this request for accommodation in writing to the Civil Service Department by May 9, 2013. The request must be supported by recent medical documentation that states the medical condition at issue, the major life activity or activities affected by the condition, and the specific accommodation(s) requested. If the request is not received within this time period, it may not be considered unless due to circumstances beyond your control.

ORIENTATION There will be a MANDATORY orientation session prior to the assessment center. All candidates are required to attend one of the orientation sessions or view the videotape of the orientation session. Two orientation sessions will be held at Dallas City Hall, 1500 Marilla, Auditorium L1FN, on Tuesday, April 30, one at 10:00 a.m. and one at 2:00 p.m.

The videotape will be available by appointment from 8:15 a.m. – 5:15 p.m.* beginning Wednesday, May 1, 2013. To view the videotape, you should call (214) 670-7898. If there is no answer, please leave your name, rank, and a contact number; someone will call you back to schedule an appointment. The last day to view the assessment center orientation session videotape is Tuesday, May 7, 2013 by 5:15 p.m. Any candidate who does not attend an orientation session or view the videotape will not be allowed to participate in the assessment center.

--See back page-- CVS-FRM-078 Version 1 Eff. 5/9/2016 ASSESSMENT CENTER There is no study guide for the assessment center exercises. The orientation session will provide the necessary information and preparation. Candidates who are eligible for the assessment center will receive a wave card** during the orientation session or after viewing the orientation videotape. You will need to bring a picture ID to receive your wave card. Candidates who have not attended the assessment center orientation session or watched the videotape of the orientation session will NOT receive a wave card and will NOT be able to participate in the assessment center. The assessment center is scheduled for July 9-11, 2013. If there are any changes, you will be notified as soon as possible.

SCORING AND FINAL RESULTS Candidates' scores on the Part I pre-qualifying multiple-choice examination will be combined with the results of the assessment center exercises to produce a final score for the entire Dallas Police Department Lieutenant promotional examination. The multiple- choice examination will contribute 40% and the assessment center will contribute 60% to a candidate's overall promotional score. Approximately two weeks following the assessment center, additional feedback sheets will be provided to participants regarding their individual scores.

*Civil Service is open from 8:15 a.m. – 5:15 p.m. You will need to schedule an appointment at least one hour before closing in order to view the assessment center orientation videotape.
