Biology Honors Thesis Timeline (for further details, see http://www.uww.edu/cls/biology/majors-minors/biology- honors details will differ for theses to be completed and defended in fall)

First Semester Senior Year:

Register for 2cr Biology 499 (Thesis I)

Conduct (ideally continue) research, begin data interpretation/analysis.

Weeks 1-5……… Begin writing formal thesis proposal (see guidelines: http://www.uww.edu/cls/departments/biology/honors/proposal.html).

Weeks 6-7……… Consult with mentor to revise thesis proposal.

Week 8…………. Mentor-approved draft of thesis proposal due in 498/99 course.

Weeks 9-16…….. Continue research

Second Semester Senior Year:

Register for 3cr Biology 499 (Thesis II)

Conclude research activities, interpret/analyze data, formulate conclusions.

Weeks 1-11……. Continue and conclude research, analyses; draft thesis (see Guidelines below).

Week 11-13…… Consult with mentor to revise thesis. (up to week 15 if unavoidable)

Weeks 13-15….. Deliver revised, mentor-approved thesis to committee (one week before defense). Schedule thesis seminar/defense.

Weeks 14-16….. Present thesis seminar (defense follows immediately); revise.

Week 16…….… Deliver correctly formatted electronic, paper copies of revised/approved thesis (including printed page of committee signatures) to Biology department administrative assistant for filing.
