In Proverbs 31:10 we read, “Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.” Then in verses 25-31 we read, “Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. (26) She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. (27) She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. (28) Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. (29) Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. (30) Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised. (31) Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.” Now with those words this coming Sunday, May 14th we give a Mother's Day Salute Some people deserve a holiday in their honor. Because of who they are, they should be held in high esteem and given a full salute. They are such very special people that they should have a special place in our hearts. So let me suggest a candidate for your consideration. How about the dear lady who birthed you into this world? Since you have only one mom, it stands to reason that you should make every effort to treat her well. After 96 years on this earth, today my mother is with the Lord. It was my joyful privilege to have had her around for 62 years. I'm grateful to the Lord for her, and I loved her dearly. Mothers Matter Much! So many little boys and girls are almost growing up by themselves these days. All of them need the love, the attention and the care of their mothers. Someone wrote, A mom can coach, counsel, comfort, and console. A mom can disciple, direct and defend. A mom can encourage and enable. A mom can pray, provide, protect, and perfect. A mom can love and lead. A mom can instruct, inspect and insist. A mom can read, rebuke, reply, and rescue. A mom has influence, and she should use it every day. A mom cooks, does laundry, keeps the house, and does a myriad of other things that are not in her job description. Nothing can compare with your mother's sweet embrace and repeated assurance that she loves you. Mothers! They are something! Mothers matter! They indeed have the "hand that rocks the cradle and shakes the world." Mothers matter much! What they do will live on for generations in the lives of their children and grandchildren. Truly, mothers matter much! May God's blessing be upon you this week as you read and meditate on the message from Proverbs 14:1 "Woman – God’s Sweet Spirit in the Home."
