Guilford County 4-H Livestock Show Junior Beef Cattle Show Saturday, August 8, 2015

STEER SHOW 8:30am HEIFER SHOW immediately following the Steer Show Check In/Weigh-In: 7:00am-8:00am

RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR STEER SHOW

1. Open to youth exhibitors age 5-19 (as of January 1, 2015) and North Carolina residents. 2. This show is open to 4-H and FFA Chapters. 3. Registration for STEER show is required by July 29, 2015. 4. Exhibitors must have trained the animals from July 15, 2015. Ownership by exhibitors is not required, but all animals must be under exhibitors care. 5. Steers can have two permanent teeth. All other teeth must be baby teeth and in place. 6. Steers must be halter broke and dehorned. Unruly animals, which may endanger the safety of the exhibitors, will be asked to leave the ring. 7. Each exhibitor is limited to two entries. If animals are in the same class, another participant must show the additional animal. Adults are not eligible to show. 8. Classes will be divided by steer weights (light, middle and heavy). A Grand and Reserve Champion will be selected from the class winners. 9. All animals must be tied in designated barn. (No Animals Will Be Allowed to be tied to trailers in parking lot). 10. Limited wash facilities will be available, but we encourage you to have your animals ready to show. 11. All participants are automatically entered in their respective showmanship classes. 12. Health certificates are not required, but a licensed veterinarian will be on hand for visual inspection. Any animals deemed unfit may be disqualified at the discretion of the veterinarian. Any animal or exhibitor showing sign of contagious disease (such as club lamb foot, ringworm, etc.) or a Body Condition Score of 3 or lower will NOT be allowed to show. Animals will be removed from the show grounds immediately. 13. Show animals are allowed to leave the show grounds immediately following their species show. 14. All premiums must be picked up the day of the show, we will not mail any premiums. 15. Show officials reserve the right to arrange classes as needed.

MARKET LAMB SHOW immediately following Heifer Showmanship, but not before 12:30pm

RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR MARKET LAMB

1. Open to youth exhibitors age 5-19 (as of January 1, 2015) and North Carolina residents. 2. This show is open to 4-H and FFA Chapters. 3. Registration for LAMB show is required by July 29, 2015. 4. Exhibitors must have trained the animals from July 15, 2015. Ownership by exhibitors is not required, but all animals must be under exhibitors care. 5. All lambs must meet NCDA Scrapies regulations. 6. Lambs must be sheared and clean. 7. Each exhibitor is limited to 2 entries in the market lamb show. If animals are in the same class, another participant must show the additional animal. Adults are not eligible to show. 8. Open to ewe or wether lambs (no rams) weighing at least 75 lbs. All lambs must have baby teeth in place at the time of the show. 9. Market lamb classes will be divided by weight. A Grand and Reserve Champion will be selected from the class winners. 10. All animals must be tied in designated barn. (No Animals Will Be Allowed to be tied to trailers in parking lot). 11. RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR MEAT GOAT SHOW

1. Open to youth exhibitors age 5-19 (as of January 1, 2015) and N.C. residents. 2. This show is open to 4-H and FFA Chapters. 3. Registration for GOAT show is required by July 29, 2015. 4. Exhibitors must have trained the animals from July 15, 2015. Ownership by exhibitors is not required, but all animals must be under exhibitors care. 5. All goats must meet NCDA Scrapies regulations. 6. Market goat classes (wethers) will be divided by weight as evenly as possible. Classes arranged at the discretion of the show officials. A Grand and Reserve Champion will be selected from the class winners. 7. Each participant is limited to two entries (2 does and/or 2 wethers). If animals are in the same class, another participant must show the additional animal. Adults are not eligible to show. 8. All animals must be tied in designated barn. (No Animals Will Be Allowed to be tied to trailers in parking lot). 9. Limited wash facilities will be available, but we encourage you to have your animals ready to show. 10. RULES & REGULATIONS FOR SHOWMANSHIP CLASSES

Will be held at conclusion of each species show.

1. Exhibitors are automatically entered in their Showmanship classes. 2. Exhibitor age and class entry will be determined by their age as of January 1, 2015. 3. Classes will be divided into: Junior (ages 9-10), Intermediate (ages 11-13), Senior (ages 14-19) and Cloverbuds (ages 8 and under). 4. Judging will be based solely on showmanship. 5. Cloverbuds will not be placed, but will receive participation prize & ribbon. 6. Steers are not eligible for points in showmanship in the Farm Credit Show Circuit. 7. Show officials reserve the right to arrange classes as needed.
