DRAFT MINUTES FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 26, 2016 – 8:30 A.M. EXTENSION EDUCATION COMMITTEE OF OCONTO COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS ** ROOM 2119, 2 nd Floor, Building C 301 WASHINGTON ST. OCONTO WI 54153 www.co.oconto.wi.us

This is an open meeting of a Standing Committee of the Oconto County Board of Supervisors. Notice of this meeting was given to the public at least twenty-four hours prior to the meeting, by forwarding the complete agenda to the newspapers and to all news media who have requested the same as well as by posting. Copies of the complete agenda were available for inspection at the Office of the County Clerk and from the County’s website calendar: www.co.oconto.wi.us

Committee Present: Karl Ballestad, Guy Gooding, Bill Grady and Buzz Kamke.

Committee Absent: Chris Augustine

Others Present: Jill Cholewa, Paula Huff, Dale Mohr, Sarah Mills-Lloyd and John Pinkart of the UW-Extension Office staff; Kevin Hamann, Administrative Coordinator.

The meeting was called to order at 8:30 a.m. by Chairman Gooding with the reading of the Open Meetings Law.

1. Approval of Agenda A. Change of Sequence None B. Removal of Items Motioned by Bill, seconded by Karl to approve the agenda as presented. The motion was called on and carried.

2. WACEC (Wisconsin Associated County Extension Committees) East-Metro Region Meeting via YouTube broadcast The committee participated in a live broadcast discussion via YouTube, facilitated by UW-Extension Vice Chancellor Aaron Brower, Dean Richard Klemme, and Associate Dean Annie Jones. The topic of discussion was UW- Cooperative Extension’s Reorganization Plan. Time was allotted after the presentation for questions and answers. After the presentation, the committee discussed concerns they had with the reorganization plan and its possible impact on Oconto County. The committee then requested that Kevin Hamann develop a draft resolution on its behalf expressing opposition to the plan as presented on February 10, 2016 by Chancellor Cathy Sandeen. The resolution would be presented to the county board at its March 24, 2016 meeting, pending approval by the Extension Education Committee at its meeting on March 22, 2016.

Prior to adjournment, since this is his last meeting with the committee, motioned by Karl, second by Buzz to formally recognize and commend Guy Gooding for his many years of dedicated service on the Extension Education Committee. The motion was called upon and carried.

3. Adjournment Motion by Bill, second by Buzz to adjourn. The motion was called upon and carried.
