Writing Center Presents: Using Student Writing to Teach Writing - Dr. April Julier 10/5 2:30- (Thurs.) 4:00 PM The most effective way to teach students how to become stronger writers is to help them understand the process of revision. Using student writing is a great way to make sure you are tailoring your lessons to the needs of your students. When you see patterns of error in your students’ writing, you can help them see the importance of developing ideas, supporting a purpose, or whatever issue you’re noticing by pulling out a model paper, and using it to springboard discussion about how to notice errors and revise. This workshop will offer you an opportunity to work with sample student writing, create a lesson based on that student writing, and share the ways you already use student writing to teach writing in your class. Open to anyone who assigns writing. *EGC Approved
