Role: Family visiting centre Worker

Responsible to: Trustees of Stirling interfaith Community Justice Group[scio]

Line Manager: Centre Manager

Work Base: HMP Glenochil (With some requirements at Cornton Vale)

Hours per Week: 30 hours flexible over 7 days a week

Salary: £18,720 Per Annum

AIM OF THE ROLE The Centre Worker.in conjunction with other centre workers has primary responsibility for the day to day operation of the centre with significant interface with both clients SPS, and the agencies at the Family visitor centre at HMP Glenochil

RESPONSIBILITIES

 To build relationships with visitors and, in collaboration with others, to identify areas of unmet need amongst visitors and to work towards specified project outcomes

 To initiate contact with visitors and offer support and advice as appropriate

 To work with a group of volunteers in providing support and guidance to visitors and to assist in induction, training and organising a rota for volunteers.

 To assist in the liaising with prison staff to ensure the smooth operation of the service.

 To be a signpost for visitors directing to other agencies as appropriate to need.

 To network with outside agencies to secure appropriate points of referral for support on the relevant range of issues arising from contact with visitors.

 To assist in the operation of the Centre ensuring the Centre is open at the specified times and being responsible for staff/volunteer deployment.

 To assist in the smooth running of the administration of the centre - .

 To represent the Centre at relevant external and internal meetings including when the centre manager is absent

 To assist in ensuring the security of the Centre and ensuring that Fire Regulations and Health and Safety Regulations are observed.

 To work with flexibility recognizing that in a small organisation such as in the centre the ability to change role will be necessary, because of varying workloads and availability of others.

QUALITY ASSURANCE  Participate in evaluations of the Service provision, measured as outcomes ensuring that the highest standards of services provided are implemented and achieved.  To develop quality standards for all measurable operations within the centre share responsibility for the quality of service delivery.

Person Specification

 1 year minimum experience working with children ,young people ,or socially disadvantaged groups  An understanding of the Scottish Criminal and Prison systems would be a distinct advantage  Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work with in diverse organizations perhaps in both public and private sectors  Comfortable to work productively with the minimum of supervision  Sound proven negotiating skills  Proven working knowledge and experience in Administration  Capable and competent in dealing with change  High ethical business standards  Good planning and implementing skills both for long term and short term situations  An understanding of child protection/safeguarding procedures.  Good literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
