Maysville Band Boosters Meeting Minutes from March 14, 2016 Present: KC Frick, Susan Dietz, Kathy Combs, Joy French, Miss Gibson, Mr. Murphy, Lew and Pam Nicholas, Brandy Hussing, Julia McCutcheon, Chris and Margaret Wise, Tom and Joe Barnett, Jodi Dickinson, Matt Durben, Amy and Chad Hina, Linda and Dave Muse, Erin McCoy

A representative from the mattress sale spoke from 6 – 6:25pm. Business Meeting was called to order at 6:25pm.

Secretary’s Report was presented. Kathy Combs made a motion to accept the secretary’s report and Margaret Wise seconded it. Motion passed.

Treasurer’s Report was presented. Chris Wise made a motion to accept the treasurer’s report and Tom Barnett seconded it. Motion passed.

Total Booster funds: $10,534.67 Student Accounts: $4,327.76 Savings: $1,079.09 Money available to Boosters: $7,286.09

 Fundraisers: Pat Payne: March 6th Gross profit was $781.00 Sub Sale: March 15 – 21 Subs made on March 31st (Kids made $2.80/sub at the last sale.) Sub Sale: May 9 – 18 Subs made on May 26th Spaghetti Dinner – April 14 Price: $6.00 Adult $3.00 10 yrs and under Free under age 3 Menu: Spaghetti, Salad, Rolls or Garlic Bread Kids donate desserts. There was discussion about charging extra for desserts. Mr. Murphy will reserve the kitchen. Music 5 – 8pm Dinner 5 – 7:30pm 2 shifts for volunteers was discussed.

Mattress Sale: Sunday, April 17th (He will supply fliers, signs. We need to supply kids to dress in the mattress suit.)

We will do a Crowne Excellence Brochure Sale next fall and spring.

Possible new fundraisers: ~ Pampered Chef ~ Amy and Chad Hina were going to look into getting water bottles made that we could sell as a fundraiser. Possibly just a “soft sale” on Facebook.

Director’s Report:  March 12th : High School Large Group contest @ John Glenn. Tough judges – most bands got a 2 or a 3 rating. Students wore the new uniforms!  April 9th: Middle School Solo and Ensemble Contest @ West Muskingum High School musical will also be that evening.  April 12th: High School concert @ John Glenn - They will leave Maysville around noon. John Glenn will feed them.  April 14th: Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser @ Maysville  April 15: Senior Scholarship Forms are due  May 4 – 5: Middle School Choir  May 6 (Friday): Middle School Band Contest @ Morgan  May 11: 5th – 8th grade band concert  May 15th: High School Band Banquet  May 17: High School Band Concert  May 19: Foxfire Graduation  May 20: Middle School spaghetti dinner at Eagle Sticks  May 27: MHS Graduation  Band Calendar for the 2016 – 2017 school yr is complete through December 2016!  Band Camp: July 17 – 21 @ Rio Grande Last 6 yrs Rio charged $175/participant (students and adults). Rio has raised that cost to $189/participant. Mr. Murphy stated that this is still the least expensive in the state. We charge $245 per student to cover Rio’s fee and additional band camp expenses Motion was made and passed to raise the band camp fee to $260.00 Band Camp fee will now be: $260.00/student

Sponsorship Letters: There was discussion about whether or not we could put up signs from sponsors that owned bars or sold guns. The booster group decided that it would be alright and that signs would just be made with the name of the sponsor without the words ”bar” or “guns”.

Student Accounts: Margaret provided Mr. Murphy with a current list of student accounts.

New Business  We received a $600 donation from 2 different people. The boosters are very grateful for this!

 KC brought up possibly selling the old uniform hats and the sweat suits at the spaghetti dinner. There was also discussion about using the old hats to make trophies for Bandapalooza. KC is going to look into this.

 Nomination for Officers: President: Joy French Vice President: Erin McCoy Treasurer: KC Frick Secretary: Kathy Combs We will vote on these nominations at the April meeting.

Motion was made to adjourn the meeting by Kathy Combs and seconded by Erin McCoy.
