Games Begin After Labor Day, and Run Until Late October

CMS Baseball

Chamblee Middle School has a baseball team! For many years we have played in the Middle School League in the fall and spring. This year we plan to field a team for the Fall League at Dunwoody Senior Baseball Field (not Dunwoody HS), 5321 Roberts Drive, about 3 miles from CMS. Coach Tony Sun, a veteran of the Murphy Candler Little League, will manage our fall team, and depending on interest and skill levels we may have a second team. Because we will likely have more players than we can accommodate, we will have player evaluations/tryouts at DSB on Aug. 12 at 10:00 AM and Aug. 17 at 7:00 PM. In the interest of safety, a player should have reasonable experience and baseball skills.

Players not chosen for the CMS team who wish to play this fall are encouraged to sign up for the DSB Rec League by Aug. 19. The website for DSB is http://dunwoodyseniorbaseball.com/

League fees are $275 (less than regular DSB fees!). Payment is due once teams are selected. Players will receive a hat and a shirt to keep!

Baseball at Dunwoody Senior Baseball is not associated with DeKalb County Schools. Contact Mr. Donegan at CMS in room A130 or at 770-395-1624, or email [email protected] for more information. Bring your own Crackerjack!  Games begin after Labor Day, and run until late October.  Volunteer coaches are always needed! Don’t be shy! If we have enough players, a second manager will be needed.  Most players are 7th and 8th graders who have “aged out” of eligibility for Little League.  Practices will be scheduled as time permits, usually once a week.  It is possible to play both baseball and football.  All players will receive a Chamblee jersey (returned at the end of the season), a hat and a t-shirt to keep. Players supply their own baseball pants.  Bat rules are complicated. See the dunwoodyseniorbaseball.com website.  Metal cleats may be worn, but are not required. Cups must be worn.  Pitchers throw from 54 feet, bases are 80 feet apart.

Tryouts at Dunwoody Park, 5321 Roberts Drive: Saturday, August 12 10:00 AM – Noon Thursday, August 17 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM

Tryouts for the very competitive spring league will be in early November!
