What is a Bibliography? A bibliography is an alphabetical list of sources that you used to help write your essay or assignment. Sources include: books, magazines, websites, news articles, television programs, youtube clips…
Why do you need one? To give people credit for their work and ideas To support or prove statements you make in you assignment Not having a bibliography is plagiarism, which is the stealing of another person’s work or ideas
What has to be included in the bibliography? AUTHOR TITLE CITY WHERE THE BOOK WAS PUBLISHED PUBLISHER DATE OF PUBLICATION PAGE NUMBER(S)
What is the format?
1. Books: Author’s last name, Author’s first name. Title of Book. City: Publisher, Year.
For Example:
Orwell, George. Animal Farm. London: Secker and Warburg, 1946.
Here’s another Example: 2. Magazine article: Author’s last name, Author’s first name. "Title of Article." Title of Magazine Date: Page(s).
For Example:
Dominus, Susan. "Why Pretty Isn’t Pretty Enough Anymore." Glamour Jan 2004: 136-139.
3. Newspaper article: Author’s last name, Author’s first name. "Title of Article." Name of Newspaper Date (day/month/year): Page(s).

What is an annotated bibliography? An annotated bibliography gives an account of the research that has been done on a given topic. Like any bibliography, an annotated bibliography is an alphabetical list of research sources. In addition to bibliographic data, an annotated bibliography provides a summary of the source and an assessment of its value or relevance. Also included would be information (one sentence) on the author and his or her background.
