WELCOME! We extend a warm welcome to everyone, particularly those who are visitors at our worship service this morning. We pray that you will receive a special blessing as we worship our Lord together. Join us in Friendship Hall immediately following the worship service for coffee and fellowship. This evening's joint worship service will be here at MPCRC at 6:00 pm. The service will be led by Campus Pastor Ken Vander Wall, as Pastor Rod is on his way to Grand Rapids for a preaching seminar which begins Monday morning. Revive Us Again--Today Pastor Rod continues his summer sermon series based on a book by Walter Kaiser, Jr.: Revive Us Again. Biblical Principles for Revival Today. In this series, we are looking at revivals from the Bible which demonstrate spiritual principles which are at work when God moves His people toward a revitalized relationship with Him and a renewed vibrancy in living life "to the full" (John 10:10). TODAY we move to a New Testament story of revival--in Acts 8. This is a clear illustration of how God brings revival (literally: "new life") out of tragedy or persecution/trials. Like a forest fire cleanses the forest and brings renewed growth and life after the devastation of the fire, so God masterfully brings renewal and growth in our lives and others through difficult experiences. Adult Sunday School TODAY--Jane Brinkerhoff (Mission to the World - Japan) will be joining us this morning! Following the worship service, she will lead the “Adult” Sunday School. Bring your families to this informative hour to learn more about Jane’s ministry in Japan, and to show her our love and support! PRAYER WALK INFO: Next Saturday, August 20, we will meet at 9:30 AM in the church library and go out in groups of 3 or 4. We will be handing out prayer cards and praying for our neighbors and community as we continue to cover Midland Park with prayer for God’s love, care, and protection. Experience is not required to be a prayer walker and we NEED YOU! Pray that we have good weather and great participation from adults and children alike. MIDLAND PARK SENIOR CRUSADERS TRIP for this month will take place on Wednesday, August 24th. We will be taking a bus ride to Rhinebeck, NY and have lunch at the Beekman Hotel. Then we are off for a two hour boat ride on the Hudson River, leaving from Kingston. Cost is $74.50. Please call Pat Trommelen at (201) 848-4486 for reservations and send a check to Pat at CHCC Hillcrest Residence Room 410, 307 Sicomac Ave., Wyckoff, NJ 07481, as soon as possible. ALL ARE WELCOME! MARK YOUR CALENDARS: September 10, 11 am - 3 pm. Our church will again have a goth at the Midland Park Community Day. YOU are needed--we would like to have a good number of people at the booth that whole time to just be your friendly self (ask how they are doing, tell them that the booth is from our church, give them a gift, etc.) If many of us offer to be there just an hour or two of that time, we can create a great, friendly and personal atmosphere that will touch the hearts of people from our community. Watch for a sign-up sheet next Sunday after church. SUNDAY SCHOOL KICK-OFF POTLUCK: SEPTEMBER 11, 11:30 - 1 PM. Mark your calendars! Enjoy some of your delicious food and help kick- off our Sunday School year. DIRECTOR OF YOUTH MINISTRY – YouthQuest is seeking an interim director for one year to lead a multi-church Christian Reformed youth program from grades 5-12 (3 groups - 5th and 6th, 7th and 8th and high school). The Director will work with an advisory board, church pastors and a team of experienced leaders. Responsibilities include organization of meetings, events, trips, retreats, and a summer mission trip. The ability to develop or lead bible based lessons is a plus. Applicants for this position should have a clear passion for youth and a commitment to Jesus Christ. The position is for 25-30 hours per week. To apply, please email a cover letter and resume to [email protected] . THANK YOU for your concerns and cards but most of all for your prayers following my recent back surgery. Sam Sybesma. THANK YOU: Lighthouse Pregnancy Resource Center is so grateful for everyone who participated in the recent Baby Bottle Boomerang. Our church’s Baby Bottle contribution of $2,224.28! combined with donations from 47 other churches, raised $69,000. This total represents ONE MONTH of life-enhancing services offered through three Lighthouse locations, along with healthy relationship presentations in local schools and youth programs. And what a difference a month can make! In May, for example, Lighthouse provided 84 ultrasounds to women making critical pregnancy decisions; shared God’s love and practical parenting support with hundreds of moms and dads, and brought healing to women and men through two post-abortion Bible studies. More than 1,200 teens were reached in May through the center’s REALife Relationship and Love Training program! And two parents became believers this spring, praise God! Thank you for partnering with Lighthouse to bring grace to life. To learn more or volunteer, please visit www.FriendsofLighthousePRC.org. Please pray for Lighthouse as daily we bring grace and love to life through our Paterson, Hackensack and Hawthorne centers – “so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God.” 2 Cor. 4:15. With gratitude and prayers for God’s blessings, Debbie Provencher.
