Class 1: October 21st Theme: Welcome Aboard Skills: Building a Conversation Fact File; Common interests Activities: Creating a Friend File, Meeting Superflex & the Unthinkables, Cooperative game

Class 2: October 23rd Theme: Being Part of the Group Skills: Whole Body Listening; Expected and Unexpected Group Behavior Activities: Follow the Leader, using symbols to show brains and bodies in a group

Class 3: October 28th Theme: Feelings and Emotions Skills: Recognizing emotions in others, and how we express our own emotions Activities: Emotion Bingo, identifying and exploring feelings and emotions

Class 4: October 30th Theme: Expected and Unexpected Skills: Expected and Unexpected behaviors in various situations Activities: Dramatic play to differentiate expected and unexpected behaviors

Class 5: November 4th Theme: Thinking About Others Skills: Recognizing we make impressions by how we look, what we do and what we say Activities: Taking perspective by putting ourselves in others’ shoes, Role play to think about how others feel, Literature to exemplify behavior affecting feelings

Class 6: November 6th Theme: Being a Social Detective or Spy Skills: Making social guesses about a person or situation Activities: Cooperative spy game, Social Thinking Toolbox, Reading someone’s plan, Investigating surroundings and environments Class 7: WEDNESDAY, November 13th Theme: Using Our Bodies to Think Skills: Using eyes, ears and brains to think; Body Language Activities: Various games which use eyes, ears or brains to solve

Class 8: THURSDAY, November 14th ** in place of Veteran’s Day holiday Theme: Defeating the Unthinkables Skills: Recognizing the Superflex characters and applying these strengths to everyday practice Activities: Literature to introduce characters and explore strengths and weaknesses of the Superflex program, Creating personal Unthinkables

Class 9: November 18th Theme: Glassman and Big Reactions Skills: Identifying problems and labeling appropriate reactions and language Activities: Creating personal Feeling Thermometers, Discussing better choices for reactions to everyday problems

Class 10: November 20th Theme: Learning about Language Skills: Deciphering Literal and Figurative language, Meaning of Language Activities: Multiple meaning words, dramatic play to express language in certain environments

Class 11: December 2nd Theme: Manners and Expected Behaviors for a public setting Skills: Preparation for the Field Trip Activities: Role play and simulation to discuss expected and unexpected behaviors in a social public setting

Class 12: December 4th Theme: Putting it All Together Skills: Review of themes explored throughout session Activities: Field trip to apply these themes in a social public setting

. Attendance is taken at each class; to report your child’s absence, please call Wampatuck at 781-545-8790 before 3:30pm. . School offices are closed during program hours. Please use the following number to contact the instructor in case of emergency: 781-704-6374 Program Procedures and Policies

 Parents are responsible for their child from school dismissal time until class start time as well as transportation. Once school is dismissed, students may not stay at the school unsupervised until classes begin. SPS faculty is committed to their teaching day until 3:40pm.

 Attendance will be taken each class; you must sign your child in and out of class. If your child will be absent, please notify the instructor (contact information will be provided first day of class) so all students enrolled are accounted for.

 If someone other than yourself is picking up your child, you MUST give a note of permission.

 Your emergency contact person needs to be someone who will be available and able to pick up your child. If the contact needs to be changed, please notify the instructor.

 Please pick up your child on time. There will be a $25 late fee if pick up is 10 minutes or more after dismissal time.

 I understand and affirm that by registering my child for a CORSE program, I grant permission for SPS, Scituate Recreation and CORSE to use photographs and/or videos of my child in CORSE, SPS and/or Scituate Recreation publications, materials and websites. If there is a need to avoid photos of your child, you must contact [email protected] and put your request in writing. Every effort will be made to avoid photos in regards to this request, but it cannot be guaranteed.

 If your child needs access to medications after-school, please be aware that there is no school nurse on-site and medications in school offices are locked. Parents are responsible for assuring the appropriate arrangements and information is provided to the instructors. School personnel or instructors cannot dispense medication. If there is an emergency, 911 will be called.

 If your child is intentionally disruptive in the class, you may be called to pick them up early. Chronic intentional behavior problems will result in termination from the program without refund.

 If there is an official school holiday, there is no class that day; it will be rescheduled. If school is cancelled for weather or emergent reasons, there is no class that day; every effort is made to reschedule for this, but make-up classes cannot be guaranteed nor fees reimbursed. If class falls on an early release day, the instructor will inform you if the class will still run that day or if it will be rescheduled.

 Refund policy is based on the withdrawal date of the student. Please notify [email protected] immediately.
