Voegtlin Spring 2017 ENG 1H Animal Farm—George Orwell Russian Revolution Research Project & Presentation 200 Points Possible

In order to understand the historical and socio-political significance of George Orwell’s, Animal Farm, an allegorical satire of the Russian Revolution, you will select from the list of topics and create a research-based presentation highlighting the topic,its place in history, and connection to Orwell’s novel.

The following are the components of this assignment: 1) Research: Sources must include a minimum (10 sources max) of: • 2 hard copy text (excludes encyclopedias; may use PVPUSD history text as 3rd) • 2 ebooks • 2 published articles from the PVPHS library database • 2 online, credible websites: History.com, PBS, Discovery Channel (NO Wikipedia)

2) Create a Google Doc of 10 objective questions (2-3 from each group member*) for your topic which the class will respond to, based on the information covered. (*Group member’s name following each question created by that person) Each group is responsible for assessing & scoring the class responses; assessments are due the day following your group’s presentation.

3) Create & submit on Turnitin.com a Works Cited page following MLA (Due 8:00am, 5/26).

4) Create a Prezi, Power Point, or Google Slide presentation (10-12 slides) that: • Summarizes the main points of your research • Connects your research to Orwell’s novel • Addresses the questions to which your classmates will respond. • Is creative: Sound, color and special effects are effective and appropriate to enhance your oral presentation of the material • Includes Works Cited ‘page’ & Quiz (these in addition to the 10-12 content slides)
