Thrivent Builds Worldwide Trip Photographer Quick Reference Guide

The Thrivent Builds Worldwide program includes implementing ways to help trip participants better understand the value of their membership with Thrivent Financial – and to help them share that story with others. We encourage team members to e-mail or print trip photos and create a personalized PowerPoint presentation to share with their congregation, Thrivent chapter, friends and family. An assigned trip photographer for the team can make this possible. Role description The designated trip photographer should have:  Interest and aptitude in photography  A digital camera  Ability to put digital photos onto photo sharing websites. During the trip Certain types of photos are especially valuable in telling the story of the trip, and the trip photographer should stage the following images:  Group photo with everyone wearing their red Thrivent Builds t-shirts. The first day on the build site works well for this because the shirts are new and clean at this point.  Individual photos of each trip member wearing their red Thrivent Builds t-shirt. Again, the first day on the build site works well for this.  On the final build day, take a picture of the team in front of the house to show the progress you made. In addition to the staged shots, the photographer should spend time throughout the week taking other photos, including:  Action photos on the build site – some close-ups of small groups and individuals (show faces, if possible) as well as some long shots that show overall build progress. Try to show the construction style of the country the team has traveled to.  Photos of volunteers working with Habitat for Humanity partner families and local volunteers  Candid photos during rest and cultural activity time – dinners out, cultural activities, local sights, food and people. After the trip  Once home from the trip, the photographer should upload digital photos from his/her camera to a photo sharing website, and then share that website with all team members. Some possible sharing sites include: o Picasa o Kodak Gallery o Flickr o Snapfish o Shutterfly  Encourage team members to customize a post-trip PowerPoint presentation – or the trip photographer can create one for the whole team – to share with their Lutheran church, Thrivent chapter or other organization. There are presentations for each type of Thrivent Builds Worldwide trip. o Thrivent Builds Worldwide Destination of Choice (PowerPoint, 739K) o Thrivent Builds Worldwide El Salvador Community (PowerPoint, 492K) o Thrivent Builds Worldwide Gulf Coast Community (PowerPoint, 739K) o Instructions for customizing a PowerPoint with photos (PDF, 165K)  Encourage team members to send photos along with a post-trip media release to their local newspapers. There are post-trip news release templates for each type of Thrivent Builds Worldwide trip. o Thrivent Builds Worldwide Destination of Choice (Word, 60K) o Thrivent Builds Worldwide El Salvador Community (Word, 60K) o Thrivent Builds Worldwide Gulf Coast Community (Word, 60K)
