Job Title: Spa Director Job Location: 11 Resort Drive, Windham, NY Department: Alpine Spa at Windham Mountain Resort Reports To: Director of Marketing and Business Development Employee Type: Full-Time Overview of Position: The Spa Director for Alpine Spa at Windham Mountain Resort will have overall responsibility for all spa and yoga operations, customer service, and staffing. Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Business Development, The Director will be accountable for meeting specific revenue goals as well as for maintaining the highest quality of service for Resort guests. The Director will partner with WMR Marketing to grow sales and develop marketing initiatives related to the Spa.

Job Qualifications:  Training in Spa Operations or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.  2 – 3 years direct experience in spa setting preferred.  2 – 3 years leadership / supervisor / management experience required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 Lead, motivate and instill accountability and excellence in all team members of Alpine Spa at Windham Mountain Resort, supporting Windham Mountain Resort’s goals and culture.  Set clear, measurable objectives, delegate responsibility, recognize outstanding performance and promote problem solving and issue resolution.

Financials

 Interpret financial reports and provide expertise on projected revenue versus expenses.  Control ongoing service and product margin analysis to ensure profitability.  Develop and maintain procedures for accurate inventory control and monitoring.  Administer staff scheduling for maximum revenue generation and profitability.

Marketing

 Work with the resort’s marketing team to develop the spa’s marketing strategy by understanding the demographic and products that will increase sales.  Ensure a consistent image and branding is being portrayed at all times.  Create ongoing incentives and activities to stimulate sales; staff and clients.  Guide marketing decisions by staying on top of spa industry and local trends.  Engage the local market by participating in or sponsoring community events that can be leveraged to promote awareness and attract new customers.  Identify industry events where the Spa should be represented to grow our recognition and credibility in the market.  Ensure the spa is always visually merchandized for maximum buyer impact.

Customer Service

 Guide team to anticipate, identify and ensure guest needs are being met and 5 Star service is being delivered.  Guide staff to become caring problem solvers, cooperative, accommodating and fair.  Exhibit a professional attitude, diplomacy and an ability to handle difficult situations  Uphold 5 Star front desk procedures in the booking and handling of guests.

Staffing & Human Resources

 Effectively recruit, screen, interview, hire and manage spa professionals and yoga instructors.  Perform quarterly one-on-one meetings and annual performance evaluations with each staff member.  Effectively administer and monitor staff scheduling procedures.  Demonstrate an exceptional level of professionalism and culture for the team to emulate.

Operations

 Maintain an up to date version of the Spa Policy and Procedure manual and ensure compliance.  Maintain spa documentation and process handling requirements.  Facilitate consistent daily communication and staff meetings to keep staff up to date on all aspects of Spa’s operations.  Ensure equipment is maintained in good working order.  Ensure spa maintains cleanliness and sanitation standards.  Maintain professional relationships with vendors, providers and resort staff.  Ensure inventory and cash items are kept secure.  Minimize or eliminate losses through monitoring programs and monthly inventory.  Maintain a clearly established opening and closing procedure.  Manage inventory effectively; follow purchasing standards; ensure compliance.  Oversee the yoga program schedule, including the scheduling and development of special workshops and events during peak business period.

Work Schedule and Conditions: We are in the business of providing a quality product and experience for our guests. Traditionally our busy periods are during weekends and holiday periods which you will be expected to work. You can also expect to be asked to work extra hours or days on occasion, especially during the holiday periods.

We will attempt to offer consecutive days off and accommodate special scheduling request, but we cannot guarantee that we will be able to satisfy all requests. We expect employees to arrive promptly and so you must arrange transportation that allows you to arrive on time.
