Choosing the Right Path to Life

CHOOSING THE PATH TO LIFE

As barrel racers we all know there is a set pattern we have to follow. You make one right turn and two left turns or one left turn and two right turns. You must follow one of these patterns.

You cannot run into the arena willy-nilly and expect to receive a good time. You must follow the right path. You know what the right path is because it is laid out for you. You have practiced the right path at home. You know the path to take around the pattern for the shortest time possible. You know that if you deviate from that path you are not going to reach your goal. You also know that if you deviate from the correct path too much you will receive a no time!

God also gives us paths to choose. It is explained very clearly in His scriptures. We can choose the path of life or the path of death. Doesn’t sound like much of a debate to me! I choose life!

In John 14:6 Jesus tells us “ I am the way and the truth AND THE LIFE. No one comes to the Father except through me.” In other words the only way to the Father and eternal life is by accepting Jesus as your savior. That choice will put you on the path to the Father.

Jesus tells us in Mathew 7: 13 and 14 “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. BUT SMALL IS THE GATE AND NARROW THE ROAD THAT LEADS TO LIFE AND ONLY A FEW FIND IT.” Choose the narrow gate and the narrow road to life.

You can make a choice to accept Christ and have life and life more abundant. I chose life over 20 years ago and never looked back. That is not to say I haven’t “broken the pattern” a few times but I have tried to get right back on the right path and stay there. You can choose the right path. You can choose life. It is as simple as “talking” to God and asking Jesus into your heart. Ask God to forgive you of your sins (we all sin and fall short, not just you!) and cleanse you. Talk to God and tell Him you are choosing life!

This sounds simple because it is simple. If I can get it anyone can get it. If I can figure out a barrel pattern I can surely figure out the path to the Father. Don’t get to the end of your race here on earth and find out you were so far off the pattern you are going to receive a no time!
