Production Programmer American Theological Library Association, Chicago, Illinois

Position Summary:

The American Theological Library Association (ATLA) seeks qualified and experienced applicants for a position as Production Programmer for ATLA’s new production system (Drupal based). The programmer is chiefly responsible for developing Drupal applications, as well as the deployment and testing of such software applications. The successful candidate will become an expert at Drupal- related technologies, and have the opportunity to contribute at the architectural and design levels to the new production system.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 Manages, engineers, and maintains miscellaneous production system scripts, programs, and services using Perl, VB.Net, PHP, Java, and other languages as appropriate.  Manages the design and coding of ATLA’s new production system.  Manages engineers and leads technical design of Drupal production system development projects.  Consults and collaborates with production staff and stakeholders to analyze application needs and propose courses of action to meet those needs including the formation of objectives and deliverables, development of timelines and milestones, prototype development, final coding and implementation.  Develops and promotes effective standards for project development. Serves as an advocate for best practices and web standards.  Participates in decision-making process with other members of departmental teams to ensure progress towards larger Association goals,  Develops programming standards, arranges appropriate training for end users and serves as the technical lead on new system implementation.  Keeps up-to-date on relevant advances in technology and applications.  Serves as an advocate for selected projects by suggesting alternative solutions, areas for further exploration, appropriate staff and user training.  Seeks opportunities for professional development that will enhance job performance.  Performs other duties as assigned.  This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications: Required Qualifications Include:

. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of: JavaScript, jQuery, PHP, MySQL, Drupal, RSS, XML, HTML, CSS, DOM, AJAX, VB.Net, or other technologies as appropriate. . Proven ability to produce accurate and timely work in a publishing atmosphere with firm deadlines . Effective interpersonal skills to work in a collegial team environment with other staff members

Preferred Qualifications:

. Working knowledge of current metadata standards (MARC 21, METS, MODS, TEI, etc.) and XML
