I. GENERAL:

The WAG-7 locomotive being manufactured by BHEL Jhansi shall be having ergonomic design, aesthetically pleasing and improved interiors to fulfill the need of reducing the level of fatigue of the crew. The improved interiors can be achieved by using widely accepted FRP laminates and mouldings.

II PROTOTYPE TECHNICAL REQUIREMENT / SCOPE OF WORK 1. The shape and space available with in the cabin shall be inline with Drg. No. - 06/1/35/91 (MODIFIED SPACIOUS CAB STRUCTURE ASSY). Drawing enclosed at annexure-1, however latest revision of the drawing to be collected by party after placement of Purchase Order.

2. Regarding the interiors of the locomotive RDSO purchase specification no.: RDSO/2008/EL/SPEC/0058 (Rev-‘0’) March 2008 is to be followed. Specification enclosed at annexure-2.

3. The fabricated cabin shall be supplied to the party by BHEL.

4. The work is to be carried out here in BHEL Jhansi premises only. Further scope of work has been detailed in the RDSO specifications enclosed herewith in different annexure enclosed herewith.

5. The party shall first submit the detailed proposal describing the seating arrangement, visibility for driver; workspace envelope, area of normal and maximum reach for driver, citing zones of comfort and reach.

6. 3-D model drawing complete in all respect shall be submitted by party for approval of the interior-furnishing scheme.

7. Interior colour scheme shall be decided by BHEL and shall be conveyed to party.

8. Then based on the agreed proposal and approved 3-D model, the party shall be required to make mock-up of the FRP cabin interiors and then shall have to be fitted with all the equipments.

9. All internal panels to be resistant to graffiti, scuffing, vandalism and cleaning agent.

10.Rounded corners to be provided wherever mutually perpendicular flat plane surfaces abut.

11.Thereafter the same shall be inspected and approved by RDSO/BHEL to be taken.

12. All the brackets required to be welded to the cabin structure for mounting of FRP panels shall be in the scope of supplier. 13. All hardwares as stipulated in RDSO specification shall be in the scope of supplier. 14. Fitment of the FRP panels and all the instruments to be mounted on the FRP panels shall be in the scope of supplier. 15. All the accessories required to install and operate the AC unit shall be in supplier scope. 16. Panel mounting to be done with M8 stainless steel hardwares. 17. Provision for attending headlight and flasher light is to be provided in the roof panel. 18. Details of the Roof mounted air conditioner (not in supplier’s scope) mounting shall be provided to supplier after Purchase Order placement. Party shall provide paneling compatible to the same. Louvre for air outlet air conditioner cover panel should be such that it should not generate undue back pressure. 19. Riveting shall not be acceptable. 20. Panel design should be such that it should be maintenance friendly and ease in removing and fitting of panels without disturbing equipments is essential. 21. Refer Annex-2 RDSO Specification no.- RDSO/2008/EL/SPEC/0058 (Rev-‘0’) March 2008 and party to note that Other items as mentioned in clause 6.2 shall not be in their scope. However the panel compatibility is to be ensured by party by taking the details of these items from BHEL. 22. Party shall ensure that all the items supplied by them shall enter conveniently through door of loco cabin. 23. Design of FRP panels should be such that it can accommodate dimensional variation in cabin upto ± 12 mm. 24. As stipulated in RDSO specification vendor must have RTM machine for producing FRP panels. FRP panels made from RTM machine only, shall be acceptable.

III SERIES PRODUCTION AFTER PROTOTYPE

1. Series production to be started only when the prototype is approved.

IV DOCUMENTS TO BE SUBMITTED WITH OFFER:

1. The party shall first submit the detailed proposal describing the seating arrangement, visibility for driver; workspace envelope, area of normal and maximum reach for driver, citing zones of comfort and reach. 2. Clause wise comments against RDSO specifications enclosed herewith at annexure. 3. Parties to supply drawings of individual FRP panels showing the dimensions, their mounting arrangement, detail of fixing of equipments on desk and details of hardware, along with offer for approval of RDSO. The drawings should clearly show the inserts, hardware and equipment layout of driver-desk etc. On study of drawings from different vendors and feedbacks of the user on maintainability,

BHEL shall standardise the drawings of panels in future. Standardisation shall be done by BHEL by incorporating good features from all the vendor’s drawings.

V INSPECTION AND TESTING

1. All the tests called in the RDSO specification shall be conducted by the party and shall be witnessed by RDSO/BHEL. Supplier to indicate the place/ Lab where the test shall be conducted.

VI DOCUMENTS TO BE SUBMITTED AFTER PROTOTYPE

1. As built drawings and final document showing the achieved zone of comfort, ergonomics and arrangement inside cabin to be submitted to BHEL by party. 2. Party shall give the installation and maintenance manual for the FRP panels. 3. Drawings of the FRP panels, desk and other parts with identification. 4. Detailed parts list to be supplied by party.

VII Warranty

1. Party should give warranty for 5 years against supply and installation of FRP cab in locomotive from the date of installation.

VIII QUALIFYING CRITERIA 1.Experience: a. International experience would be preferred. b. Photographs of jobs completed successfully with references to be provided by the party. 2. Mandatory requirements of RDSO specs (enclosed herewith as annexure) to be met by party. IX OTHER REQUIREMENTS

1. List of deviations with justification to be furnished separately. 2. Mould charges if any to be quoted separately. 3. Mould shall be property of BHEL, to be handed over after completion of contract. SPECIAL NOTE:

i. The floor panel shall be of anti skid type and shall be made of FRP with minimum thickness of 10 mm. ii. Fan and sunvisor shall be supplied by BHEL, party to arrange for its suitable fitment to FRP paneled cabin. iii. The list of items to be fitted in the driver’s cabin is enclosed (Annex- 3). iv. The changes in FRP panels as suggested by RDSO during or after inspection regarding the mounting, fitment & maintenance of the equipments

shall have to be attended by FRP supplier, free of cost. v. Height of driver’s desk and the visibility of driver on track are of utmost importance.
