Logging in and What to Do for Your Course

Logging in and what to do for your course:

 Go to www.theonlineinstitute.com.au then go to student log in. Save this in favourites. Log in with you user name and password. Makes sure you use the capitals, dots and no spaces as how the information has come to you. Click through your acceptance. (You can also use the “elearninglogin” link that was sent to you in your welcome email.)  You will have three unit codes on your “dashboard”. Click on your first unit; BSBWOR501B. (Always follow the units on your timetable).  In the right hand column at the top is your text-booklets/slides in the “Learning Support Materials” Sections 1, 2 & 3. This is what you need to read in your first week, and the information you will be assessed on in your assignments. In the slide are embedded extra resources that are hyperlinked to videos and reading materials which help support your learnings and assessments for that unit.  Next in the right hand column are your assessments; Activities in Assessment Tool 1 (which are normally due on the second week), Written Questions in Assessment Tool 2 (which are normally due on the second week), and Project in Assessment Tool 3 (normally due on the last week).  In your Activities you can type your work into the dialogue box. Concise bullet point work that has a heading is preferred. If you need to do any re-submissions please do not delete what you have typed, just add your work below with a heading; “Re-submission”.  Some Activities require you to download a table/document/template, save it to your computer, type your work into in, then upload back into the portal using the “Browse” button that is in a box of its own. You will see this typically in the first unit’s Section 1 Activities- Activity 2, question 2. The hyperlinked word “here” is where you need to click to get the downloadable table/document/template.  Always “save” as you go using the blue button and the bottom of each page.  Once you have finished a full assessment, be it the activities, or written questions, or the project you will need to submit the work. It takes us approximately 24 hours to assess the work and then release it back to you. In the meantime you can access the portal to read work but you won’t be able to type into the portal until we have released it. If you forget to add something and have submitted your work and really wan/need to add something, text, phone or email us and we will release the work without marking. This is usually a very quick process!  To submit your work you will need to click on the word “dashboard” in the dark blue ribbon under the logo; this will take you back to the dashboard with your unit listings. At the end of the row of the unit you are working on is the word “submit”, you will need to click on it to submit you work to us.  When you need to work on your project, you will need to open your own MS Word document to create your project according to the “User & Style Guide” which we have emailed to you but can also find in the Resources area on the website. Once you have completed your project you will need to upload it to the portal in the Assessment Tool 3 – Projects area.  Once you have completed your unit, continue on to the next unit.  Always be aware of the due dates for assessments which is on your Student Timetable.  Please read your Student Study Guidelines and Activities and Written Questions Guideline, again which we emailed to you but is also on the website.  Please log in to your student Facebook group page to ask questions of other students, or post inspirational information etc. This link was emailed to you.  As you are aware by now, there is additional information for all students in the Resources area on the website. I am building this for the units in the course as well as for personal learning. There are

16/4/15 v.1 templates that can be used for activities and projects for the first and second unit at the moment, with some students work as examples coming soon.
