Directorate Asset Management

Position: Policy and Standards Engineer Location: Castleford / Penshaw

£( Salary) £52,722 - £61,456

Position: This excellent opportunity is where you can put your experience and skills as an Electrical Engineer into a higher gear. It will allow you to work on challenging, interesting and meaningful projects designed to drive technical change in our business. The role involves working alongside an enthusiastic, lively and talented team of professionals who are authorities within their various fields of activity and you will be a senior member of the team reporting to the Policy & Standards Manager. You will be required to represent the business on external technical forums and build effective relations with your peers in other organisations.

This role will suit someone with a high degree of technical awareness who is able to work as a successful team member, demonstrate strong decision making skills, an ability to deliver quality in line with deadlines, and who is looking to advance their career.

Key Responsibilities

You would be responsible for:  Auditing manufacturing plants on a global basis  Assessment of network products for technical suitability  Developing asset management policies and strategies  Analysis of future asset requirements  Developing and reviewing technical specifications  Providing detailed technical advice to internal customers  Building effective relations with suppliers  Undertaking product defect investigations  Representation at National standards bodies

Key Competencies  Team working  Strong decision making skills  Technical knowledge  Able to deliver quality outputs to required deadlines  Excellent verbal and written skills  IT literate

Qualifications & Attributes You should have a proven track record of experience in an engineering role with at least a minimum of an HNC in Electrical Engineering. Operational awareness at all voltage levels with an understanding of underground systems including cables, joints, terminations and associated technology is essential for this role. Candidates with a suitable STEM degree and experience in conducting analytical assessments will be considered.
