Taking a Closer Look What does the Bible say?

As Jesus began His ministry proclaiming the Gospel (Mark 1:14), He gave two clear challenges. Look up Mark 1:15 what are they?

Who was/is He talking to? (See also Luke 5:31-32, Acts 17:30-31)

Proverbs 14:12 states “There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.” It is critical to realize that my way of life and your way of life seems right but ultimately they lead to death. Have you stopped living according to the way that seems right to you?

There are four key aspects to finding the way that ends with life, God’s way. Isaiah 55:6-7 outlines this process. What are the four actions we must do? (The following verses are from the NIV translation) After filling in the blank explain in your own words what these things practically look like.

______while He may be found (verse 6a)

______while He is near (verse 6b)

Let the wicked ______and the evil man his thoughts (7a)

Let him ______and He will have mercy on him (7b)

Look up the word forsake in the dictionary. Record your observations here.

What is the difference between forsaking and neglecting your own way of doing things and your evil thoughts? Which does God want us to do?

Look up Colossians 3:1-10

What are you to set your heart and minds on? (Verses 1,2)

Who is your life now, what is life about now as a follower of Christ? (Verses 3,4)

What things should you rid your life of? (Verses 5,8-10)

Which of these things do you personally feel like you need God’s help work on?

2 Corinthians 5:17 states that you are a new creation if you are in Christ. Are you living like it?
