Direct Admit & Unscheduled Cesarean/Preparing the Patient for Surgery

1. Call admitting & register patient. 2. Check with the unit clerk to verify the patient has been scheduled in SurgiNet. If the patient has not been scheduled, ask the unit clerk to schedule the case in SurgiNet. 3. If MPS has not been done, complete MPS documentation

Orders 1. Check PowerChart for Cesarean Orders.  Orders may be on paper from the provider office. Using the paper PowerPlan enter the orders. OR  If Cesarean PowerPlan is in a ‘planned’ state, call the provider to obtain an order to ‘Initiate’ the orders. OR  Provider can enter the orders the day of the procedure.  Note: if there are NO orders, call the provider.

2. Begin the Preoperative Checklist. Use paper form #8032.  Complete Consent Task from Tracking shell o Double click o Place check in box, click Document.

3. While in Orders, add the appropriate IPOC’s  Coping  Altered Comfort/Pain management  C-Section Delivery/Recovery

FetaLink 1. Place patient on EFM via FetaLink.

Pregnancy Summary 1. Open the patient’s chart to the Pregnancy Summary to verify the pregnancy has been added. If it has not yet been added, Add the Pregnancy and the Number of Gestations=Number of Baby Labels.

IView 1. Go to IView to document:  FHR Monitoring section to verify the Baby A dynamic group has been added for this patient’s pregnancy.  Document the following sections for all admitted patients: o OB Pregnancy Band . OB Visit Assessment . POC Urinalysis o OB Systems Assessment Band . Assessment Summary

Ad Hoc-Complete Admission Profile 1. Allergies can be completed from the Admission Profile. 2. Click each row on the navigator to pull forward data entered during MPS visit.
